Delightfully, a job well done.
This is my first read from Fanny Merkin AKA Andrew Shaffer and my first parody book. I must say it was definitely entertaining and a great fun book to read.
Mr. Shaffer had written a wonderful parody of Fifty Shades series, if you did not already know. It covered most memorable points of the original story. From the airhead heroine and her “inner guidette”, the bazillionaire hero and his obsession with BDSM, friends, maternal/paternal history of the H/h, certain obsessions down to the romance bit. The striking similarities had me craving for the original Mr. Grey but the inside jokes had me laughing at the absurdity of all the extremes about him, among everything else.
This book definitely had me LMFAO from cover to cover. There is a couple of things you need to pay attention to that I missed until I scan through the book the second time.
I listed a few that I thought are easy to miss. Please note that there may be some spoilers to this list:
1. Pay attention to the cover, specifically to the hand gesture (this is called a shocker).
2a.The names of the characters and the references to Fifty Shades and Twilight Books
2b.References to family backgrounds, companies mentioned (Jin’s job history)
3. The List of 50 Shames
4. The Index
5. Acknowledgements
I recommend this book anyone who is familiar with the Fifty Shades series or you will miss a lot of the “inside jokes” that had me laughing. I also have to warn you that there are plenty of PUN intentions but I advise an open mind and accept this book for what it is. If you can do that, Fifty Shades fan or not, you will enjoy this book.
With any popular or hyped up subject such as song, book, movies, political issues etc, there will always be a parody, IMO. Mr. Shaffer did just that and delightfully, a job well done.

Laugh out loud funny! I wasn't sure if I wanted to spend the money on this book or not, thinking it might not be as funny as it sounded. It was funnier. I don't generally burst out loud laughing while reading but this one really got me going. My husband kept asking me what was so funny, but I tthink those who read the Fifty Shades trilogy will appreciate if, even if they were a little shocked or critical about the writing style. Fifty Shames hit the target dead center. I really enjoyed it, obvs.

Review:
"Fifty Shames of Earl Grey" by Fanny Merkin and Andrew Shaffer was some interesting read that truly kept me laughing all the way through this hilarious novel. This was a definitely a story that I was found wondering just what craziness this author(s) would bring on next. Wow! It is my understanding that this is a parody in that these authors spoof of the very popular 50 Shades
of Grey...where Mr. Earl Gray..was a corporate tycoon..a rich guy, that could buy anything..had his own secrets or his "Fifty Shames." Then there is Anna Steal, a naive college student and Walmart cashier who meets Earl Grey..well this is where I say you must pick up this read.."Fifty Shames of Earl Grey" and just maybe you will be smiling at some on this funny read. I know many
will say this is a ridiculous read but just remember this is a parody and it is supposed to be funny..sort of like 'Airplane and Naked Gun.'
These authors did a good job of taking these of the original book and completely creating other scenarios and these could only put a smile on your face.
If you are looking for a good novel that pokes fun in all the right places then pick up "Fifty Shames of Earl Grey" for I would recommend to you as a good read.

I knew I had a good chance of liking this since I hated the fifty shades books (some of the worst books I've ever read or attempted to read). This book is fun. The special irony being that it's so much better written than the book it parodies

Personally I think its better than 50 shades of grey which I couldnt read. It bored the crap out of me and the writer writes like she's in middle school.

The first chapter had me laughing all night! But after that, the humor got old and tiresome. Just a bunch of the same things over and over again. The concept was great, mimicking the overhyped fandom of the 50 shades series. But, I would have liked to have a bit more depth to this parody.

If you're looking for a light read to follow the 50 shades series, this may do the trick. Total parody.

It is one of my favorite parodies ever. Fanny Merkin aka Andrew Shaffer did so a great job with this book. Especially incorperating the fact that 50 Shades of Grey was a parody of Twilight. I don't think I have laughed so much while reading a book before. It was just so entertaining.
I personaly hated the original 50 shades of Grey I tried reading part of that and couldn't even finish it.
So when I saw that there was a parody I had to pick it up because I parody had to be so much better than the original especially since it's not done by E.L. James and it's edited.
