Overview

It's a fact: stress makes you fat. Renowned clinician and scientist Dr. Pamela Peeke goes beyond diet and exercise with a lifestyle program that shows women how to stop being diet "POWs" ("Prisoners Of Weight") or victims of "Toxic Stress" and how to evolve into physically and mentally stress-resilient individuals. Peeke helps women identify their stress-eating profiles (Are you a stress-overeater? A stress-undereater?) and explains that to remove weight, you have to lift weight. She explains what to eat and, equally as important, when to eat by navigating the afternoon "CortiZone," the hours of highest vulnerability to stress eating. Learn how to put it all together through the fine art of regrouping.

Women can tailor this accessible program to their individual needs using Peeke's three behavior templates:

* Stress-resilient nutrition
* Stress-resilient physical activity
* Stress-resilient regrouping

Dr. Peeke's program is a must for women who want to break the stress-fat cycle that has thickened their after-forty waistlines.

This is an awesome book to read. There are so many things I never thought mattered much. Overall, I eat pretty healthy and have no problem dropping weight. However, eventually, I plateaue and got stuck. This book helped me understand the impact that stress has on our eating habits and how our bodies react to stress. Finally, I was able to go to the next level.

I gained new understanding of how destructive stress can be on my health. Dr. Peeke's explanation of how the body processes food differently after 'midlife' precisely diagnoses what I've seen happen to my own body. She also reminded me of my sweet grandmother, who ate an apple every night before bedtime. She lived a long and healthy life. I'm vowing for that apple now instead of that last glass of wine.

'Chronic, uncontrolled stress makes you fat'. says the author of this book and she's right. And years of dieting didn't only made me more stressed. While reading a book called, 'SIMPLE MONEY SOLUTIONS,' I finally realized that the cause of my stress and my weight gain was due largely to one thing: my bulging credit card debt. I'm proud to say that over the past four months I have finally taken control of my life and have significantly paid down my debt and lost 37 pounds! 'Simple Money Solutions' even showed me how to get $3,212 of my debt forgiven and get a lower interest rate on my remaining debt (not bad since rates are rising for other people). I could not have achieved my debt reduction or stress reduction without that book. 'Fight Fat' is helping me take off my last 12 pounds. Both books will inspire you and change your life like no other books I've read before.

This book is clear cut and handles scientific information in a digestible format (pun intended). Except for the information regarding menopause, this book is for everyone who want a common sense success tool to take charge of your health and includes the concept of 'weight removal' instead of 'weight loss'. I am a retired police officer, certified massage therapist and martial art instructor. In all these endeavors I seek truth, honesty and success. This book delivers all that.

I am just finishing up this book but have already started the diet portion. I have been seeing a nutritionist for over a year and had lost some weight initially and have kept that weight off but have been struggling ever since. I have seen Dr. Peeke on the show "Cooking Thin" on the Food Network and happened across this book after the new year. One thing I noticed immediately was that Dr. Peeke follows the dietary guidelines from the American Dietetic Association, the same guidlines my nutritionist gave me. I sat down this week with my nutritionist and went over the inverted pyramid and Dr. Peeke's approach to weight loss and she agreed that it followed the same basic program she had written out and thought it was worth a try to see if this eating structure works for me. I am on my second week of this plan and so far so good and I am not hungry. Although I found some areas of her book a little hard to understand (since she has a PhD in nutrition and metabolic studies), however, the eating plan is basic and the exercise is easy and she starts you out gradually. For around $12 what do you have to lose except inches. Good luck and God Bless.
