Overview

If you love the MMA romances of Vi Keeland and Kendall Ryan, Sidney Halston’s Worth the Fight series will knock your socks off! In Fighting Dirty, a geek-chic cage fighter proves that appearances can be deceiving . . . and oh-so-tempting.

With his preppy clothes and horn-rimmed glasses, Enzo Silva is the last dude anyone expects to find in a mixed martial arts gym. A wealthy Brazilian banker who never had to fight for anything, Enzo’s stuck in the amateur circuit—but he burns to make the pros. Maybe that explains the heat he feels whenever he’s around Jamie Lynn Calhoun. The pint-size, magenta-haired bartender with the Texas drawl is everything he’s not . . . and everything he craves.

Tough as nails and independent to a fault, Jamie Lynn—JL to her friends—works hard to pay her bills and keep life simple. Enzo is doing his best to complicate that. Even though she likes to bust his balls, he’s got some kind of a nerdy-hot vibe that makes JL wonder if she might finally be able to let her guard down. It might do the boy some good to spend some time in her world, where blood, sweat, and victory are as sweet as the first taste of real love.

Too many clichés clog up Halston’s fifth Worth the Fight contemporary, about a wealthy Brazilian developer and MMA fighter who romances a tattooed bartender from the wrong side of the tracks in small-town Florida. Jamie Lynn Calhoun spends a year turning down propositions from Enzo Silva. When she finally says yes, a few hours turns into four glorious days. Jamie worries about his wealthy, buttoned-up background, but he accepts her for who she is. Though Enzo loves how at ease he feels with Jamie, he worries what will happen when she learns that his business plans may derail the murals she paints with her street-artist friends. Readers will recognize Jamie’s wariness of men, the chip on her shoulder, Enzo’s evil ex-wife (who of course decides she wants him back), and several other elements of this been-there read-that novel. 3.5 Stars Reviewed by Angela and posted at Under The Covers Book Blog Lorenzo Silva aka Enzo and Jamie Lynn Calhoun are opposites as can be. While Enzo is this rich Brazilian banker and an intense MMA fighter, JL is a tattooed bartender with magenta colored hair and has a very sassy personality. Their differences didn’t stop their undeniable attraction to each other but in the beginning, JL didn’t even want to give Enzo the time of day. I love how she turned him down, but I love it even more how Enzo pursued her. Both JL and Enzo have past that they have to overcome, but their biggest battle was trust and acceptance. Fighting Dirty was a quick and fun read. I found myself laughing at JL’s humor and intrigued with what Enzo was going to do next. I especially am fond of the connection to the characters from the last books. It was a treat to read about the crew at Worth The Fight Academy again. I’m excited to read more on the upcoming reality show. And from what it looks like, there’s already a couple of romance forming that will be worth the wait. Looking forward to the next installment.

4.5 Stars This is the story of Lorenzo "Enzo" Silva and Jamie Lynn "JL" Calhoun, twin sister to Travis Calhoun. Enzo has wanted her for a year and finally his divorce is over. Now he can pursue her in earnest. She always turns him down though. She's attracted to him but they come from two different worlds and it would never work. Enzo is an amateur fighter in his spare time. He's not a full time career MMA fighter. After he loses a bet and does something unexpected, she just might change her mind. What would be the harm in one dinner between the sexy serious business man and the tattooed, colored hair, combat boot-wearing pixie? This book is a fun, sexy, and steamy romance. All the books in the Worth the Fight series are fantastic reads. I love visiting Tarpon Springs and the Academy where all the action is. Where the rough and tumble men find the women that turn their lives upside down. I can't wait for my next visit. Received a copy via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. I was not compensated for my review. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinion expressed is my own.

Fighting Dirty is Sidney Halston's fifth installment in her exciting Worth the Fight series. This installment is about Jamie Lynn (JL) and Enzo. These two are polar opposites that find out that opposites sometimes attract. JL grew up with a lousy mother in the wrong part of town. Thanks to her twin brother, JL and him were able to get out and build a life for themselves. Enzo has been pursuing JL for a long time but she keeps shutting him down, how can they date when they are in two completely different worlds. All things change on when Enzo's divorce becomes final. He shows up at JL's work and finally gets her to agree to a date. This installment had me laughing out loud. Enzo and JL are great together. This series is a must read, especially if you are a fan on MMA romance book! I received an eARC of this book compliments of the publisher for my honest opinion and review. All ratings and opinions stated are my own.

This is the 5th book in the Worth the Fight series. This book can be read as a standalone novel. I just want to caution the reader that the order of books intended by author is for a reason and you may miss out on all the fun if you skip ahead. Enzo has wanted Jamie Lynn AKA JL to go out with him for months. The attraction between them is really strong. She thinks he is not her type since they are opposites. JL cannot help how she feels about Enzo. But they both have secrets from their pasts that may interfere with them trying to start a relationship. Can they give it a go? Enzo just has to convince JL that she is everything. This story is so good! It has so much heat. These are really strong characters who want to control how a relationship evolves. I cannot wait to see the next installment in this series! ***This ARC copy was given by Netgalley.com and its publisher for review purposes.

3.75 stars---FIGHTING DIRTY is the fifth installment in Sidney Halston’s contemporary, adult WORTH THE FIGHT erotic romance series focusing on the MMA fighters of Worth The Fight Club and the women they love. This is amateur MMA fighter and Brazilian businessman Enzo Silva, and bar waitress Jamie Lynn (JL) Calhoun’s story. JL is Travis’s sister-we were first introduced to our leading couple in a previous story line. Told from dual third person perspectives FIGHTING DIRTY focuses on Enzo’s attempts to seduce Jamie Lynn-a tattooed, impulsive and feisty thirty year old who never considered settling down anytime soon. For close to a year Enzo has been trying to convince JL to give him a chance but when Enzo is ready to give up it is Jamie who asks Enzo out for their first official date. Jamie and Enzo are polar opposites in almost everything they do but Jamie’s take charge attitude pushes Enzo into some uncomfortable situations while hiding her own emotional and darkened past. Jamie and her brother Travis never ran in the same circles as the rich and famous people like Enzo Silva. They never knew their father and their mother is an addict with a taste for drugs and men. But Jamie and Travis keep secret their younger life, and it is only when things between Enzo and Jamie begin to heat up does Jamie reveal the truth about earlier years and the reasons she hides behind the tattoos and various changes to her hair color and style. Jamie is a talented artist who likes to push the envelope between right and wrong but the envelope she continues to push lands squarely in the new business deal that Enzo had been trying to make. The $ex scenes are intimate and erotic, and for Enzo there are a number of firsts –outdoors and on the hood of expensive cars. FIGHTING DIRTY includes all of the previous story line couples as well as Jamie’s twin brother Travis, and the woman who calls to his heart-Penny. Jamie’s BFF Violet (Laid Out #4) is a little protective of our story line heroine but it is Jamie’s secret that Violet struggles to protect the most. We are introduced to Jamie and Travis’s struggling mother, as well as Enzo’s ex wife and the ‘new’ man in her life. The world building continues to focus on the men of the MMA but the fight scenes are limited in this particular story line. There is a ‘reality’ series scheduled to be shot in and around the Worth the Fight fighters, and with it comes the potential for more drama. FIGHTING DIRTY is an entertaining story line with likeable characters once you get past Jamie Lynn’s initial over the top exuberance and take charge attitude. There is betrayal and heartbreak; secrets and family dysfunction; falling in love and letting go. A welcome addition to Halston’s Worth the Fight MMA series.

He looks like a nerd. He is filthy rich, divorced and has a dream, to be a rock solid, professional MMA fighter. When a tiny spitfire of a woman, who does what she wants, when she wants takes him to the mat, will his heart go down for the count? Enzo and JL, as different as night and day, and yet, their sizzling chemistry is one of erotic dreams as she teaches him to learn to take life by the horns and go with it because you only go around once, keep it simple, keep it fun and live it to the fullest. Have they found the recipe to success in love or will their worlds never quite fit together? She is a shot and beer kind of girl, he is tuxedos and champagne, let the fun begin! Fighting Dirty Sidney Halston is hot, sensual and filled with attitude, mostly JL’s! Great dialogue, tentative love, dreams shattered, some major deceit and damaged characters, sound like a knock out read to me! I received an ARC edition from Loveswept in exchange for my honest review.

I would give this one 3.5 stars. It was a good read. It turned out to be a little different than I was expecting. I enjoyed the story line. Seeing straight and narrow Enzo out of his comfort zone was a sigh to see. I liked how Jamie Lynn brought out another side to him. It also made him re-evaluate his life. Jamie Lynn hasn't had the easiest life, but her optimism and positive attitude make her one amazing person. I also love her potty mouth and the things she teaches the parrot to say. Enzo comes from a lot of money, but that doesn't always equals happiness. Fresh from divorce and losing a best friend's friendship he trying to move on and wants to with Jamie Lynn. He slowly, but surely takes on this task and finally sees the light at the end of the tunnel. I really liked the scene at the art class. Which really sets into motion Enzo's transformation. Enzo is keeping something BIG from Jamie Lynn that just may cost him the happiness he just found. Will Jamie Lynn listen to his reasons? or will it be too late? There are little surprises and twists in this one.

The highlight of this story was that Enzo was relentless in his pursuit of Jamie Lynn. I'd think it's reasonable to say a year is a damn long time for anyone to keep asking the same person out only to be turned down each time. But seeing Enzo's interest in Jamie Lynn made me want to know the man behind the suit a whole lot more. Not that Jamie Lynn wasn't justified in saying no to him. I got it. On the surface, he didn't seem like the kind of guy she'd date anyway: reserved, neatly pressed and dressed, rich. She was the opposite of all that, which suited her fine, but didn't seem to be enough of a deterrent for Enzo. Her spontaneity, beauty, wit, and ability to live life to the fullest made her incredibly attractive to me. I could see why Enzo was to her too. The biggest takeaway was the way Enzo changed. In the eyes of his family, he wasn't much of anything. Nothing he did or could do would change their opinion of him. With Jamie Lynn, he learned that happiness came from being with someone who appreciated you for you, loved you for you, and wanted you for you. And for a man like Enzo, who had the ability to buy the world, discovering his world was with a pint-sized, ever-changing hair colored, tattooed bartender who taught him to live because life is worth living was amazing and beautiful. Definitely worth reading and worth owning. It's a terrific addition to this series, a character driven romance that is humorous and heartwarming. 4.5* Received from NetGalley via Tasty Book Tours for an honest review

A story of opposites attracting each other, but even more so, Jamie Lynn and Enzo see each other as they truly are, behind all the smoke and mirrors. The connection they have is amazing. They are the opposites in every way, the way they grew up, the family structure, their personalities, hobbies, and even cleanliness. But they have chemistry, they are willing to compromise, and go that extra mile for each other, they are willing to fight for each other, to be able to make a relationship work. The characters in the story are likable, all of them, they are complex, and through the tale they grow and develop as human beings. The story is interesting, it has a nice balance between the sport, and the lives they are living. The lives are not easy, they all have their own challenges, things they have to face, or overcome. The struggles they face are real, the support from their friends admirable. This story really pulled me in. It has a nice flow, the story moves on at a great speed, and the events are interesting. The heat between Enzo and Jamie Lynn is hot, the attraction between them sizzling, but you can also feel the deeper feelings of love, protectiveness, and caring. A Very entertaining story, with a great mix of MMA, hurdles of life, and romance ~ Four Spoons

Enzo is a man that came from a wealthy background that wants nothing more than to fight MMA professionally instead of spending every day behind a desk doing his father's bidding. Jamie Lynn (JL) is his best friend's twin sister but that doesn't stop him from feeling a strong attraction to her. JL is a tattooed spitfire that bartends for a living, and is completely different from anyone he's ever been with. They have to find a way to trust each other and figure out if they can deal with their completely different backgrounds. I wasn't sure if I was going to like this one as much as the last one I read (Cain's story) because both of their personalities were so extreme: her the crazy "fly by the seat of your pants" artsy type, and him the OCD neat freak businessman. But I really loved "watching" them grow as the story went on. Enzo had his alpha moments but was such a sweetheart to her. I love this series and can't wait to read Travis' story! I don't want this series to end!

5 stars I loved everything about Fighting Dirty, the storyline was fun, sweet and very entertaining. Loved both Enzo and Jamie/JL, they made me laugh, swoon and left me with a heart full of love. They were such a great couple, it was a joy watching them fall in love and find their happily ever after. I've enjoyed all the books in the Worth The Fight series, and Fighting Dirty is now my fav. Looking forward to Travis's book in Stacked Up can't wait! I highly recommend this book and series, Sidney Halston has written a heartwarming, emotional and entertaining series with lovable and memorable characters that will leave you full of happy feels.

I have read many of Sidney Halston’s books and I love them all. With each book you get brought back to the MMA world of sexy, strong fighters and their significant others. The fighters from the first 4 books in this series make appearances and the reader gets to catch up on what they have been up to. The best part of the romance is this book is how different the two characters are. You have rich, successful, and powerful Enzo. He is use to getting what he wants and everyone falling into line for him. JL (Jamie Lynn) is rough, tough, and in your face bold. They say opposites attract and this book proves that this is true. While the romance and relationship is the important part of the story, I loved the other friendships. Penny and JL are co-workers who are becoming friends. They start to share each other’s secrets and provide support only a girlfriend can. I also loved Travis and JL’s sibling relationship. The fact that they are twins just makes the relationship even more special. Enzo also was able to open his eyes to new friendships and learn how to relax. I recommend checking out this series. Each book can be read as a stand-a-lone, yet if you read them in order you get glimpses into the lives of other characters. I cannot wait for Travis’ story.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for a copy of this book! This is my first Sidney Halston book and I was a little concerned coming into the series at book 5. I was pleasantly surprised that it didn't matter! This can definitely be read as a stand alone. I don't get to read many MMA books and after reading this one, I asked myself WHY? Enzo is rich and a tad "stiff" and JL is tattooed wild woman! That being said, it made for one crazy ride book! Those two made it work, somehow! I think I've found a new to me author to go back and read more of her books! This book was very well written and the characters were likable. I'm planning on going back and reading 1-4 to see what I missed!

4.5 star I was pulled right into this story. This story contains heartbreak, sexy love, secrets, betrayal, and jealousy. If you have not already read the below I recommend reading them first: Against the Cage (Worth the Fight, #1) Full Contact (Worth the Fight, #2) Below the Belt (Worth the Fight, #3) Laid Out (Worth the Fight, #4) This is Jamie and Enzo's story. Enzo asks Jamie out every chance he gets but she always turns him down. Until one kiss and then he finally gets his date. They are complete opposites. The date she plans is fun and lighthearted and he is totally drawn in. Enzo has money and works hard at his job but when he realizes that his job is going to hurt Jamie he tries to figure out a way out of it before she finds out. When the secrets are revealed will he lose Jamie just when he thought he had her for good? Can he protect her even if he is the one hurting her? Will Jamie be able to forgive him for the betrayal she feels? When the dust clears will Enzo be able to fight his way back to Jamie? I recommend this story and this series.

4.75* I loved this book and the series just keeps getting better. I'd been waiting to get to Enzo mad Jamie Lynn's story but I can truthfully say that it was so much more then I thought it would be. The are so many things that I want to tell you about this story but I can't because it will spoil it and I won't do that...and it's really hard! Enzo and Jamie Lynn are both such strong characters and completely different from each other. But as they say opposites attract and boy do they ever. The sex is flaming hot and Enzo is one hot alpha male. Jamie Lynn is quirky and spunky and full of sass. Some of the things she says will make you laugh out load. There are some twists and turns that will just break your heart. Some might think this is a stand alone book but you need to read this series in order to get to know the whole gang at WTF Academy, you will not regret it. I can not wait to read the next book and I hope it will be Travis and Penny's HEA. My only complaint about the book and why I didn't give it a full 5* is because it needs to be proofed better. There are a lot of missing words and some typos.

Another amazing story in the Worth the Fight series! Enzo and JL have been skating around each other in the last couple of stories and now we have theirs. I love the balance these two characters brought to each other. Enzo was always so stuffy and uptight but JL brings out his more carefree adventurous side. JL is one tough cookie. Growing up the way she did she had to be but Enzo brings out a softer side to her. Their relationship is a struggle from the beginning but definitely worth the fight! This author and series has quickly become one of my favorites. I definitely recommend this book!

The difference between living and existing is up to you. That is the central theme of Sidney Halston's latest novel Fighting Dirty. It also is the point that JL (Jamie Lynn) helps Enzo (Lorenzo) to discover. His happiness rests on himself and not trying to please others. Jamie Lynn is a survivor. Her life is the true testament to the saying of making lemonade out of lemons. Becoming her own person and coming to terms with the anger, heartbreak and tragedy have created a woman with thick skin that looks for the bright side but has endured life's darkest moments. Lorenzo has wealth but is not happy and his fortune has become a noose he wears daily. Sidney Halston via her Worth the Fight series has penned stories that are full of beauty, bravery and characters that capture the imagination and heart. I received an ARC of Fighting Dirty in exchange for an honest review.

Fighting Dirty is the 5th book in Sidney Halston’s Worth the Fight Series, and is Enzo and Jamie Lynn’s story. These two characters couldn’t get any more opposite. I know the saying is cliché, but in this book the saying “opposites attract,” fits the bill to a T. Enzo comes from money and his attire and mannerisms show it. He’s always impeccably groomed and is totally hot. He’s from Brazil, but now is in the US after a failed and loveless marriage. Jamie Lynn is tough as nails, or at least that is the image she presents with her tattoos, boots, and wildly colored hair. She has also had a really tough upbringing and had an experience that changed her life, one she’d like to forget, but also one that has made her embrace her “tough girl” persona. The one thing they have in common is MMA and Worth the Fight where both Enzo ad Jamie Lynn’s twin brother Travis train. Enzo’s had a thing for Jamie Lynn for a while, and relentlessly tries to get her to go out with him. Jamie Lynn is secretly attracted to Enzo, but she also consistently shoots him down because she thinks they are too different….until one night, she finally says yes. Their relationship pushes the limits in every area and to say it is intense, is an understatement. They have their problems and have some issues they both have to work through, but they also have something that makes fighting through those issues worth it. I enjoyed Jamie Lynn and Enzo’s story and watching their relationship develop, taking in all the things that happened in the process. Another bonus was getting to see the characters from the previous novels as well, which was great, but each book in the series can also easily be read as a standalone companion novel. Fighting Dirty is entertaining, has a lot of humorous moments, as well as some really sexy and intense ones. Fans of Sidney Halston and of this series, will enjoy Fighting Dirty.
