In the final book of the In Her Name: Redemption trilogy, Reza Gard awakens in a hospital on Earth after having been in a coma for months. Charged with murder and high treason, he finds himself the scapegoat for a daring plot to assassinate the President of the Confederation.

Escaping with the help of Jodi Mackenzie, who is now hunted for what she knows about the death of the president, Reza discovers that something is deeply wrong with the Empire: the warriors have lost their will to fight. Compelled to step into a trap set for him and Jodi, the two once again find themselves bound for Erlang.

But this time it is to meet Tesh-Dar, who has been taken prisoner. Captured and sentenced to death, Reza can only watch as a human armada gathers for a strike against the Kreelan homeworld. I gave the first two books in the In Her Name series four out of five stars because I wasn’t quite sure what to think. I enjoyed the stories immensely. They were epic in many ways and well written, yet I couldn’t decide what I thought about the series in its entirety. Book three, In Her Name: Final Battle, sealed the deal. Hicks brought everything together neatly. Though there wasn’t as much action as in the other two, the political intrigues really pulled the story together. I took my time reading the previous two but I didn’t have that option this time. I finished it in two days. Here’s a big sorry to my family! I couldn’t pull my nose from my Kindle the whole time. The two protagonists finagled their way into positions of power and use that power to bring Reza Gard and the Kreelan Empire to their knees. Gard’s friends, both known and unknown, fight to make things right but fear for their lives, and for good reason. Things don’t end the way the reader expects, or the characters for that matter. We’re left hanging until almost the very end when everything comes together in a meaningful and epic ending, a perfect way to bring the In Her Name story to an end. I’m all about the baseball metaphors, and Hicks hit the ball out of the park with his first series.

Fantastic stories. I am so glad I found this authors creations. It has been wonderful to read great, imaginative scify.

Third novel in this series is just as spine-tingling as the preceding novels. I have read the series in less than a week, and this author builds a rich story that is extremely compelling. This is scifi and at times a bit gory but is extremely realistic and compelling.

I was so happy to discover a new author whose books kept me wanting more. I couldn't put them down until the series was finished. Then I didn't want them to end. They are a nice blend of sci-fi, mystery and romance...a little something for everyone.

I just completed the first six novels in chronological order (rather than published date) as suggested by Michael Hicks. I loved the series and recommend one interested in a space saga that has it all to dive into this one. Although each is a fantastic novel by itself it was an easy epic to follow this way without wondering what happened to get to a particular point. All the important characters are well developed and even though you might feel you know where the story is going most of the time it is one hell of read when getting you there. I thought it had a great mix of intrigue, drama, pain, passion, rogues, heroes, action, high tech gadgetry, etc. - could go on - but you get the picture. Mr. Hicks has been added to my list of favorite authors. I read almost any genre but have a leaning to sci-fi and any kind of good mystery/drama/intrigue and I find his writing style blends a satisfying mix. I expect I'll pick up the series prequel set as well as his "Harvest" novels in the near future.

I loved reading this battle story set in a time where space is the setting and the enemy is really foreign. Lots of high tech weapons, but the enemy values hand to hand combat while having no mercy for anyone who won't fight. The paradox is what keeps it interesting. I kept hoping that some of our humanity would wear off on to the Kreelans. Hopefully that will come later in the series.

I really enjoyed this series and Final Battle finishes the story that started in Empire and continued in Confederation with an epic battle and conclusion filled with twist, turns and a good plot resolution. I highly recommend this series. It does not disappoint.

Havent been hooked from the free first book, First Contact, I was forced to do what I rarely do nowadays; I BOUGHT the ones I had to pay for. That is a testament to how excellent this series is and to the A+ writing ability of the author. Because this was the final book of this series, and in order to avoid the total let down one normally experiences at the completion of such a fantastic story, I might have to do yet another thing I rarely do - read the pre-sequeal about the origins of the Kreelan empire! Damn you Mr. Hicks! ;) Dale M. Baranoski

A good wrap to the series though not on par with the previous two. The action of a few of the characters seemed contrived and inconsistent. Also the end of the final battle didn't logically flow from earlier events. Still overall a must read to finish the series.

Although I generally liked the characters, especially Reza, the profanity and bizarre sex/torture made this one that I could not recommend. It is a shame since I thought Michael Hicks developed several characters so that you truly were interested in them and what happened to them.
