Overview

In the final book of the In Her Name: Redemption trilogy, Reza Gard awakens in a hospital on Earth after having been in a coma for months. Charged with murder and high treason, he finds himself the scapegoat for a daring plot to assassinate the President of the Confederation.

Escaping with the help of Jodi Mackenzie, who is now hunted for what she knows about the death of the president, Reza discovers that something is deeply wrong with the Empire: the warriors have lost their will to fight. Compelled to step into a trap set for him and Jodi, the two once again find themselves bound for Erlang.

But this time it is to meet Tesh-Dar, who has been taken prisoner. Captured and sentenced to death, Reza can only watch as a human armada gathers for a strike against the Kreelan homeworld. But the human fleet - and humanity itself - will be doomed to utter annihilation unless he can reach the Empress in time...

Great Way to Wrap it Up

I gave the first two books in the In Her Name series four out of five stars because I wasn’t quite sure what to think. I enjoyed the stories immensely. They were epic in many ways and well written, yet I couldn’t decide what I thought about the series in its entirety.

Book three, In Her Name: Final Battle, sealed the deal. Hicks brought everything together neatly. Though there wasn’t as much action as in the other two, the political intrigues really pulled the story together. I took my time reading the previous two but I didn’t have that option this time. I finished it in two days. Here’s a big sorry to my family! I couldn’t pull my nose from my Kindle the whole time.

The two protagonists finagled their way into positions of power and use that power to bring Reza Gard and the Kreelan Empire to their knees. Gard’s friends, both known and unknown, fight to make things right but fear for their lives, and for good reason.

Things don’t end the way the reader expects, or the characters for that matter. We’re left hanging until almost the very end when everything comes together in a meaningful and epic ending, a perfect way to bring the In Her Name story to an end.

I’m all about the baseball metaphors, and Hicks hit the ball out of the park with his first series.

    In her name

Third novel in this series is just as spine-tingling as the preceding novels. I have read the series in less than a week, and this author builds a rich story that is extremely compelling. This is scifi and at times a bit gory but is extremely realistic and compelling.

    Top shelf

Havent been hooked from the free first book, First Contact, I was forced to do what I rarely do nowadays; I BOUGHT the ones I had to pay for. That is a testament to how excellent this series is and to the A+ writing ability of the author. Because this was the final book of this series, and in order to avoid the total let down one normally experiences at the completion of such a fantastic story, I might have to do yet another thing I rarely do - read the pre-sequeal about the origins of the Kreelan empire! Damn you Mr. Hicks! ;)

    Recommended - check it out

I passed this book on to my lovely spouse and we had a different take on the ending. I felt it was rushed and left you with a felling of something left incomplete. The characters had been established in his earlier books so there wasn't a lot of need to expand on who they were. As with each of his books there is a lot of action and the eventual conclusion as to the missing empress is resolved but to say what that is would be to give to much away. In some cases I was disappointed with his treatment of some of the characters and the unrelenting perseverance of the bad guys. I would like to rewrite the conclusion to his series and managed to do it through the avenue of daydreaming. Overall a good reasonably paced story that kept your interest. I think it would have been nice to see book five and six combined in one and seen a different twist to the ending. Ah well - enjoy.

    I loved it

I loved this whole series. Great characters interesting storyline and I think the books could stand alone. This might not be for everyone it has violence and some sex in it. I feel it is a natural progression but others may not.

A good wrap to the series though not on par with the previous two. The action of a few of the characters seemed contrived and inconsistent. Also the end of the final battle didn't logically flow from earlier events. Still overall a must read to finish the series.

    Not For Me

Although I generally liked the characters, especially Reza, the profanity and bizarre sex/torture made this one that I could not recommend. It is a shame since I thought Michael Hicks developed several characters so that you truly were interested in them and what happened to them.

    Overall great book

Overall final batle was a great book. However there was a couple of things that i wasnt too appreaciative on. 1. The author doesnt do some thigs that I personally believe he couldve IE when Reza is captured why doesnt he just have everyone libk into a chain by holding hands or something and will then to the empress moon? And the big one 2. The cliff hanger. What happens to the kreelans? Where do they go when ther on their way to ther next evolutionary stage? Do they become spirits and can will themselfs anywhere and can do anythong? Or dos the empress just take them to another world? It wouldve tied it up and to put a bow on it te author couldve jumped to around, say, 100 or 200 years to the future and told us what happens to the humans, what happens d they go to war again or do they achieve a sort of enlightenment? Omething else perhaps? Overall a great series and wou most definitely (and already have) reccomend it.

    Decent book

Is a great read until the end. I thought the ending was a cop out. But the bulk of the story is very good.

    GREAT WRAP-UP TO THE TRILOGY

I absolutely loved this series, and this final installment was very satisfying, which is the least I can say about it. It's a fine change from some of the garbage that gets published these days. I recommend- very highly- this author and series!

I began reading Mr. Hicks' books with the free Nook versions of Empire (Book I of the Redemption Series), and was hooked after that. I'm faithful to my favorite Sci-Fi authors, so have a difficult time finding a new read. Michael Hicks has surprised me. His books are well-written with a character base you easily become attached to, good plots, and plenty of action. Definitely a must-read series!

"In Her Name: Final Battle" by Michael R. Hicks is the third installment in the story of Reza, now firmly entrenched in his human life, but with both civilizations on the brink of destruction. The way Mr. Hicks brings the conclusion to this series was heart wrenching, sad and glorious all at the same time. I can't say enough good things about the books or his writing style. You just gotta read 'em to believe 'em! This book was in a word; excellent!
