Rachel Ybarra, a paralegal, is assigned to work a case with the U.S. Attorney. This case is against Supevsky, a drug runner, who hires a Russian hitman, referred to as "The Man" to eliminate a competitor. The Man is fascinated with Rachel and what he calls her unrealistic faith in the Lord and vows to bring her to her knees. In the meantime, Rachel learns from her pastor, Manny, that the battle here on earth is supernatural. With the help of a friend in the FBI, she battles fear and uncertainy in her faith as The Man threatens her grandmother and everyone close to her. James Scott Bell convinces us through his writing that The Man and his seemingly "invisible" aptitude is real that chills came over me as I read. I would recommend this book for anyone's personal library.

One of two books I have read thus far in 2014 that I would characterize by far as the best of the best! A legal thriller with a Christian attorney-to-be (paralegal) at the forefront of the novel with a faith that is put to the test in the fight against the Russian Mafia and drugs. I WILL be reading more James Scott Bell novels!

I stayed up last night til midnight & woke up at 5 this morning to finish it. Around 9 o'clock I was reading about a murder taking place & my heart started racing...It felt so real. I've never experience that before. I've been getting a lot of free books & inexpensive books that I read maybe a few chapters & it doesn't hold my attention & I delete it. This was truly riveting. Its the first book I've read from this author but it won't be my last.

I loved this book. I enjoy good fictional mysteries, but often have to wade through grotesque scenes and graphic sex to read the story. This book kept me interested without those elements. It was a very good read and I would like to read others like this one.

The paperback version of this book may be a good read, but I will never know as I could not get past the astounding number of typos, grammatical errors, omitted letters/words and formatting errors. I don't know how much the publisher, Compendium Press, is making off of James Scott Bell, but Mr. Bell might want to consider using a new publisher in the future - one that actually proofs a book before it goes to press.
