What a pleasant suprise!

I never know quite what to expect when given a book recommendation, especially when it concerns a romance. But I was so pleased by this story that I'm glad I listened.

Grace is a great little heroine - so naive, and yet so much a grown woman at the same time. She's a great mix of spunk and sensitivity, and I have to say she had me thinking of Sissy Spacek in "Coal Miner's Daughter." She's such a pure soul, but there's a tough and sassy side to her too, and I love that she isn't a pushover when it comes to men.

One thing I loved about this story, too, is that all the characters are fleshed out, and not left to hover in the background for no reason. They all have a purpose, and they don't feel tacked on. I had a soft spot for Grace's protective older brother, Jack, who left home many years before. Jack adores his wife and loves his comfortable life in the city, but try as he might he can't quite escape his poor mountain upbringing.

What a great story. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a refreshing change from the norm.

    Spirit

I was.really prepared to fall in love with this book but unfortunately I just really liked it, The unrequieted love between Grace and Henry took up entirely too many pages, It became a little repeticious and boring at times, I think if this book was only half the lenght that it really could have been a classic, I thought the author had a great idea but should have done more editing, That being said, I still loved the characters and plot, It was a good try, Next time remember that more is sometimes less,,,,,,,,,,,,,thanks
