Overview

All Devon Wright wants is peace and some time to chill with his boys. He's jerseyed up and waiting for his boy, Charles, to show up with tickets to the Atlanta Falcons' season opener. Instead, at his front door he finds "Satan's little sister," aka Quartisha Shauntae Randall, his baby momma. Once again, she's dropping off their daughter unexpectedly and ruining his plans.

Devon doesn't mind, though. His daughter, Brianna, is the most important thing in his life. He's worried about the poor example Quartisha is setting with her ghetto-fabulous lifestyle. He can't believe he ended up with such a crazy baby momma. He's vowed to stay away from all women for a while—until Charles introduces him to Cassandra.

Cassandra is nothing like Quartisha. She's a good, church-going woman. Devon is pleasantly surprised to find out that Cassandra's not what he thought a Christian woman would be. Cassandra Parker is not only fine; she's also smart, sassy, and sexy. Devon is intrigued, and he wants to get to know Cassandra better. How will he be able to handle his daughter, his baby momma, and a Christian girlfriend?

Well, this was my first read from Ms. Lewis...it is definitely not going to be my last.

I detest the phrase "baby mama"...but er um...that's all that Shauntae...or Quartisha is! That chick is a hot mess from way back! When I read it, all I could think was...what kinda mother does this?

Here we have a classic role reversal. Devon is far from a deadbeat dad. He has shared custody of his daughter Monday through Thursday and his daughter goes to spend time with her mom Friday through Sunday...(or something like that...)...She is a bit triflin' and often has "emergencies" and comes to drop their daughter off at Devon's door with not so much of a, "hey dog..."...On top of that...HE PAYS HER CHILD SUPPORT! Are you kidding me? Then she has the nerve to cut the monkey!

In walks Cassandra....oooooooh wee! Cassandra is the kind of woman who has her stuff together! She is NOT one to mess with. She knows what she wants and is not afraid to say it. She is trying to please God...and that's what's important to her.

I loved this story and I can't wait until the sequel! (I'm always gettin' caught up in a series!)

Highly recommended for you (us) hopeless romantics out there!
