When our younger son Jeremy was eight, one of his favorite movies was the Disney film Finding Nemo, so we got him this book. Finding Nemo is a 2003 American computer-animated film written by Andrew Stanton, directed by Stanton and Lee Unkrich, and produced by Pixar Animation Studios, that tells the story of an apprehensive, overly protective clownfish Marlin whose mate Coral and the rest of their offspring except one are eaten by a barracuda. His remaining son Nemo is captured by a scuba diver and driven away in the boat to Sydney, Australia, where he is sold to a dentist for his office aquarium.
In search of help, Marlin meets Dory, a naïve but optimistic regal tang fish with short-term memory loss; would-be vegetarian sharks Bruce, Anchor, and Chum; and a surf cultured turtle named Crush, as he tries to find Nemo. Unlike other Disney books, this one is not a story book but rather is more like a comic book, with photographic reproductions of scenes from the movie and dialogue, I presume taken directly from the original script, in little balloons. If your children are really into the Pixar movies from Disney, this might be interesting. The movie is cute, and there is really nothing objectionable in the book.
