On Lily Sanderson's eighteenth birthday she'll become just a girl—still a mergirl, true, but signing the renunciation will ink Princess Waterlily of Thalassinia out of existence. That leaves plain-old Lily living on land, dating the boy she loves, and trying to master this being-human thing once and for all.

Now that Lily and Quince are together, mer bond or not, she's almost content to give up her place in the royal succession of Thalassinia. But just when she thinks she has everything figured out, the waves start to get rough. Lily's father sends a certain whirlpool-stirring cousin, Doe, to stay with her on land. And why why why is she batting her eyelashes at Lily's former crush, Brody?

The seafoam on the raging surf comes when a merboy from Lily's past shows up—Tellin asks Lily for something that clouds her view of the horizon. There's a future with Quince on land, her loyalty to the kingdom in the sea, and Lily tossing on the waves in the middle. Will she find a way to reconcile her love, her duty, and her own dreams?

My thoughts...Fins are forever is a fun continuation of the first book, Forgive My Fins. Remember Doe from the first book? She is the evil cousin who despises all humans. Well, she's back and commands attention in Fins Are Forever. She was exiled and now it is Lily's responsibility to help her see the error of her ways. On top of that, Lilly has to deal with the fact that she will be forever relinquishing her title of Princess to be with her true love. This installment started off a bit slow, but then wrapped me up in Lily's dilemmas. The story was fun and humorous at times. The most impressive part was the amount of character development. All of the characters showed growth. As in the first book, I really enjoyed the visual effects provided by the Tera Lynn Child's writing style. I could imagine myself visiting the underwater land of Thalassinia. If you have not read Forgive My Fins, I would recommend you start there. Fins Are Forever is a fun read for kids of all ages.

The Fins series is a complete joy to read. I absolutely loved Lily and Quince in Forgive My Fins, and I was so glad to get to dive back into their world with book two, Fins Are Forever. The mermaid world that Tera Lynn Childs has created is one that completely swept me away. I have loved mermaids since my Disney days, but I think this series is my favorite books about mermaids. In this book Lily is struggling with SAT prep, college applications, and so much more, when suddenly her childhood nemesis shows up. Doe, her cousin, has been exiled, and it's Lily's last duty as princess to rehabilitate her and teach Doe to love humans. This scenario leads to some hilarious and snarky moments between the two girls who love each, and hate each other, all at the same time. After growing up together, they really know which buttons to push to get the must affect, and push them they do! It's one crazy girl fight you don't want to miss. Of course, Lily and Quince are also one of my all time favorite book couples and we get to see how their relationship has grown and evolved in this book. I actually wish we had more alone moments between them, but they're relationship was so solidly built in the previous book, and still done so well in this book, it really wasn't needed. I just love them so much I can't help but want more and more scenes with them. What can I say, I'm greedy! Overall, this was a great sequel to Forgive My Fins and I cannot wait to see where Tera Lynn Childs takes this series and these characters next. The story was a full of laughs, turmoil, and surprises. There are so many great characters, and great relationships, that I couldn't help but become completely invested and I devoured Fins Are Forever in one sitting. If you haven't started this series, I urge you to pick up a copy of Forgive my Fins now! If you have, Fins Are Forever releases today, so rush out and get your copy!

Fins are Forever is the second book in the Fins Series by Tera Lynn Childs, and it left me satisfied and wanting more. FIF brings us back to the tail, harhar, of Lily right on the cusp of her being ready to relinquish her title as Princess of Thalassinia. On her eighteenth birthday she needs to make the choice of ruling or staying above the waves. If things were not already hectic for Lily being seventeen and on the needs of choosing her future, she is looking for colleges, getting romantic and soon finds a new responsibility: Doe. FiF was a fantastic read. We see Lily caught in the middle of responsibility, romance, and an eagerness to fulfill the things she wants partnered with the tasks needed to complete it. Tera Lynn Childs takes us back under the waves and into a whole new adventure with the characters that we all so loved from Forgive My Fins, and the finish leaves us hungering for the nest installment of the series

Fins Are Forever starts one week after the end of the first book, Forgive My Fins. I like how the story line picks up from there and keeps moving. I loved the romantic dilemma/ arguing that took place during the first book. It's refreshing when the love interest couple hate each other in the beginning. This book didn't have as much of that. I still was interested with the problems and decisions Lily had to face, and I wanted to see how it all would turn out for her and Quince. We get to know Brody, Lily's huge crush in book one, and Dosinia, Lily's younger cousin, a little more. Both characters you might not like at first, but they just might grow on you. Things are tense and suspenseful because there are huge decisions Lily has to make with non-negotiable time limits that affect her future. Lily is trying to do well on the SATs so she can get into college, and she still has to renounce her title as princess. It's a fun book! I really enjoyed it. What girl hasn't pretending to be a mermaid?! With a backyard pool growing up I was a mermaid every summer. :)

What I liked most about this book is the great plot line. I adore the first book and this book picked up right where it left off. The characters in this book really grew up from the last. I like that this time around there was more drama in the Kingdom and family. This element in the book made for a good read cause it felt more familiar to the reader. We got to see lily struggle family wise as well as other things. Lily knew more and is more mature than the last book. I like that she understood the consequences and didn't take things lightly. I loved that she tried to help everyone. No matter what she is doing she dropped everything to help. Lily showed some great characters in becoming the future princess if she chose it. She looked at situations from every point of view, thought it thoroughly and made the decision. The love interest in this book is sweet and predictable. I like it like this cause it didn't over power the book or the main plot line. Ms. Childs wrote the book in a perfect balance so it didn't over throw the reader. The reader is able to find drama in the family problems and also find peace in Lily's relationship. I adored reading this book. It is a perfect sequel to an amazing series. Nothing like your average mermaid tale, Fins Are Forever takes the reader on a great underwater reading adventure!

FINS ARE FOREVER, by Tera Lynn Childs, is the anticipated sequel to Forgive My Fins (My Review). With Lily and Quince together and Lily willingly giving up her place in succession you would think they could live happily ever after right? Wrong! Once again we are thrown overboard into the deep sea full of troubles for Lily. It is rare that I like books in a series equally. Usually one book holds prevalence over the other but for once this is not the case! I was wholly impressed with this book just as I was the first. I enjoyed jumping back into the story of Princess Waterlily and experiencing Childs' fantastic world under the sea. Yay for Lily and Quince! I was so happy to read about their relationship once more, and in this book it was a more positive one for sure. With the whole Lily being obsessed with Brody thing over, I was excited to sit back and watch this relationship grow and blossom. But as with any good book, nothing stays perfect for long. Doe, Lily's snobby little cousin, shows up in human form and creates a whirlpool of insanity. I liked the journey that Childs created for her characters. There were so many twists and turns I did not know what Lily would ultimately do with herself. And with the intrusion of Doe and Tellin in her life, the lines became even more blurred for our heroine. Fans of the first book will love this one. Childs brought back all of the beloved characters from the first with a few more introduced into the mix. Her talent for creativity flourished once again in her amazing visuals of Lily's home in the water. I am not sure if there are current plans for more books in this series but Childs definitely has a new huge fan!!

Fins are Forever is a fun read. If your in the mood for something light and refreshing add this one to your summer reading. Being royalty shouldn't be a pain in the caudal fin. Lily Sanderson's life should be perfect. She is a princess after all. Unfortunately Lily has a lot of figuring out to do. Her whole life has been dedicated to her future, and her duty to be the best queen possible. Lil is torn between her life, love, and family ashore, and her duty, and kingdom at sea. Life as she has always planned and prepared for has drastically changed. Without being in a bonded coupling by her eighteenth birthday Lily can't become crown princess, and the one person she wants to bond with is immune. So Lily has to plan for the life unexpected. One lived on land. She has decided to abdicate her throne. Lily has chosen love and Quince over Queendom. It's too bad she didn't take school more seriously. With less than a month before graduation Lily is trying her best to salvage her academic career so she can go to college. But fate and her family are about to make things even more difficult, when her human hating cousin, Dosinia is exiled to shore it becomes Lily's last duty as princess to educate Doe on the ways of the human world. But Doe has plans of her own. She's causing all kinds of mischief that's got Lily swimming in circles. Adding to the already mounting tension is the addition of a guppyhood friend who offers Lily a solution to her conflicting dilemma between love and duty. But is the offer worth the possible sacrifices. Childs packs the story with relatable situations for her teenage audience. Lily's struggle with finding her own way in the world is as endearing as her quirky slang. A lot of YA being published today are really pushing the boundaries of young and adult. Most seem to cater to an older age range. Fins are Forever does have one heavy petting make out scene, which is quite tame. I think this book has some great lessons and is perfectly appropriate for the genre and age group. This book made a splash with solid story lines, interesting characters, and wonderful threads for a third installment. Fins are Forever is a great beachside read. Holy Bannannafish! This book is Frogging Crabbtastic!

Ever since Lily stepped on land to be with Quince and finish her human schooling, she has never been more stressed. The SAT's are coming up and her grades could use some hard work. Then the earth moves (literally!) and her bratty cousin Dosinia shows up on her doorstop. Exiled from their underwater home, Doe will hanging out with lily and her Aunt Rachel for a while. As if this isn't enough already, it quickly becomes clear that Lily's former crush Brody is interested in Doe. And an ex-flame with an agenda comes back into her life as well. With so much going on, Lily's impending 18th birthday seems like the least of her problems! As the second book in the series, I think Fins Are Forever is better than the first book, Forgive My Fins. This is definitely one of the sillier mermaid stories I have read, but the quirks that annoyed me in the first book were so much more enjoyable in this one. Like the fish talk and sea-sayings. They were totally cute in this story! Perhaps I was just drawn to the Good Girl/Bad Girl plot line between Lily and Doe. The scenes with them together were the best! I also have to say it was refreshing to see a YA character who is struggling with their grades, instead of passing over school subjects as though they didn't matter. I really liked the way Quince and Lily interacted with each other, too. At first it seemed a little abrupt, especially after all they went through in the first book. But I quickly settled in to the Lily/Quince lifestyle. If you made it through the first one, be sure to pick up this next installment. It's totally worth the read!

OH WOW, I love this series!!! This book was Crabbtastic!! In Fins are Forever the story continues right where Forgive My Fins left off with Lily being madly in love with Quince but deciding that she is interested in giving up her crown in Thalassinia as future queen to stay as a human on land forever with her boyfriend Quince and seek out college and a new life. Forgive my Fins was great and so I had high expectation for Fins are Forever to be equally good!! However, I think that Fins are Forever was better than my expectations! I devoured the book as fast as possible and might even go back through and read it again! You know the author is great when the second book in the series doesn't have the case of "boring middle book" syndrome but is just as exciting as book one! The new twists of Lily's bratty younger cousin Doe showing up was great! She is one of those characters you hate but find a bit amusing and appealing! The trouble she brings to the book adds a bit of additional humor to the story that is great! Again, the plot in this series is unlike anything I've ever read and is so engrossing that it is hard to imagine waiting for the additional books in the series to be released! The ending was a bit predictable but still not disappointing in the least. The romance is of course the most important part of this story and I loved it in Fins are Forever. I wish there were more kissing scenes between Lily and Quince but what Childs gives us is great! There was a mild make-out session between 2 other characters but it was all done very clean and I would say this book is appropriate for any age group! One of my favorite things about Tera Lynn Childs writing is that her stories are fun, easy going, delightful but so engaging that you are thinking about the story for a long time after reading it and it is hard not to compare every other mermaid book out there to this outstanding series! This was a great summer read that you should run out and buy even if you are not a young adult! I am almost 30 and this book has made my favorites list! Not sure how I will survive waiting for book 3.
