Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Renee Farrah Vess
Rachel and Kirsty are back in book three of "The Music Fairies" series to help Fiona the Flute Fairy. This time they will have to trick three goblins into surrendering the pieces of the fairy flute. This magical flute needs to go back to Fairyland in order to restore the fun and harmony of playing all flutes, and prevent Jack Frost and his Gobolicious Band from playing in the National Talent Competition. All seven of the magical instruments that control the world's music have been stolen, and the goblins are under a spell to look human in order to hide the stolen goods. But their large feet, noses, and ears still give them away to Rachel, Kirsty, and Fiona, who track them down. With a little magic, and some quick thinking, they can send one more instrument back to Fairyland. This straightforward series has a target audience of five-year-olds and does not offer much to older readers. There are illustrations on most pages, and the story is kept buoyed by the childlike eagerness of the characters. Reviewer: Renee Farrah Vess
