Editorial Reviews

From Barnes & Noble
Disney applies a generous sprinkling of fairy dust in this cute chapter book based on their popular brand. In this sixth stand-alone episode, take-charge Fira comes to the rescue when all the fireflies are grounded with a pandemic firefly flu. But alas, Fira's strong sense of purpose can't save her from exhaustion. When her bright glow fades, she must rely on the help of others. A magical lesson.
Children's Literature - Trina Heidt
Fira is a light-talent fairy. It is her job to make sure that Pixie Hollow is well lit in the evenings, to provide light for celebrations, and to make sure that the mining-talent fairies have light on their monthly visits to the mines. Normally, this is no problem for a tireless fairy like Fira. She is in charge of the other light-talents and delegates most of the tasks well. Her energy is put to the test when the fireflies that help Fira with the lighting around Pixie Hollow come down with the flu and she and the other light-talent fairies are left short handed and exhausted from all the extra work. Fira thinks her problems are solved with the arrival of three new light-talent fairies, but she soon discovers that they are not the answer to her wishes. In fact, they are more work to keep track of than they are a help. Fira is frustrated and tired but her job must go on. She decides to take the miners down to the mines by herself but soon finds herself and the miners in trouble. Just as she is about to lose the last of her glow and her hope of finding the way out of the mine, the new fairies who were once nothing but trouble come to the rescue. This lighthearted chapter book is part of the "Disney Fairies" series.
