BOOK ONE: LINE OF FIRE SERIES, set in the Somewhere, TX continuity series.

Claire Milton moves back to Somewhere, TX with her life in shambles. She lost her job, her savings, and the support of her parents. But she has an idea that will put everything back on track. And she needs Meg Klein's help. When Claire attends her scheduled taste-testing at Meg's Bakery in Old Town Somewhere, TX, she doesn't expect to have company, let alone her first crush.

And what a crush he was.

Strapping fireman, town sports hero, all around hunky and single for years. So what is Aidan doing at a wedding cake tasting?

Captain Aidan Conley doesn't get out much. He's been mostly in limbo, trying to avoid the town gossips who only want to talk about him and his late wife. When a favor for his sister sets him in the path of Claire Milton, his high school best friend, he can't stop thinking about how much he wants to kiss her. But when a cold case at the fire house puts his career in jeopardy and Claire is the only person standing between him and a life sentence, he has to put his feelings aside and fight for his life.

A firefighter seasoned in the investigation of fires must be under suspicion when his wife dies in a house fire. Even if they were the happiest couple in town. So when Claire discovers evidence that they weren't as happy as they seem and it casts a light on Aidan she doesn't want to admit, she has to choose between her resurfacing feelings and her own safety...

I really enjoyed this book. It had the right amount of romance and suspense.

This is a well written heart warming story about lost love, broken dreams, redemption and love. Right off the bat I was in love with Captain Aiden Conley and the reader will be as well as they read about his involvement in the cold case of his wife and the chain of events that changed his life. Meanwhile, his past relationship with Claire will surprise the reader and start a chain of events that will shake up Claire's family. I can't imagine how he lived for all those years avoiding people in a small town in regards to this situation. I myself live in a small town and really it is hard to stay hidden. Claire's personality is delightful in her belief that no matter what she will help Aiden prove he is innocent before she leaves again. A very determined lady, she plows forward to seek anything possible to help solve this case. Aiden and Claire's characters are both strong and fully developed which aid the strong plot to this book. With some intrigue thrown in to add more interest the reader will be fully satisfied by the end of the book. Secondary character Deputy Allan VonBrandt may cause people to pause if they have read any of the VonBrandt Family Series by Krystal Shannon. I love how these authors interwove their stories and look forward to more books. I give this 4 STARS for the well written interaction between Aiden and Claire.

Pulled me in! This is the first time I am reading a book by Becca Boyd and I am happy I did! Loved this story! For years, Aidan has been uncomfortable in his hometown... helping them out as a firefighter even though there are those that whisper that he got away with murder... when his sister-in-law shows up, so much happens! Claire and Aidan take you along their adventure... a little intrigue, a bit of danger and a romance that left me with a smile on my face! A great read... got to enjoy seeing some characters I have met in the town of Somewhere within other authors' books too! I am really looking forward to reading more by this author!

FIRE AWAY {LINE OF FIRE, BOOK 1} SPINE-CHILLING MYSTERY, STEAMY KISSES & HIDDEN SECRETS! What you’ll find in this story; a cast of remarkable and engaging characters, fantastic story-line, dynamic vivid scene descriptions, humor, gut-wrenching moments, pent up rage, gripping suspense, life threatening incident, mystery, emotions skyrocket, camaraderie, horrific danger, heroic deed, and a conclusion that leaves you wanting more. Adian Conley’s wife died when their home burned to the ground. The case was closed when foul play could not be proven. Now ten years later the case is being reopened with Adian the prime suspect. Though he has saved many lives with his firefighting heroics, there are those who believe he is guilty of his wife’s untimely death. Claire Milton, the sister of Adian’s wife has moved back to Somewhere to live with her aunt. She sees Adian at the town bakery where he is doing cake tasting for his sister’s wedding. Adian had been Claire’s best friend and secret crush, but lost contact with him when her parents left Somewhere after the death of her sister. When Adian gets arrested and then released the two go on a hunt to find out exactly what happened on the night of fire to prove his innocence; their hunt bringing them closer, but also leading them to hidden secrets and deadly danger..... INCREDIBLE-fast paced well written creative read by a truly gifted author. I truly enjoyed this book, and the genuine chemistry between Adian and Claire. There is no sizzling romance just a few hot steamy kisses which is fine with me. The mystery, action, dialogue and intriguing plot keep you satisfied and glued to the story till the end. This is definitely a story of true everlasting love with a melt-your-heart conclusion; a most entertaining read. I was gifted this book and this is my honest review}. In the world of fantasy romance, the possibilities are endless and always fascinating. Without reservations, I recommend this book.
