More About This Book

Overview

L.S.U. Poetry Professor Sofia Angelou finds herself alone again after seven years in a frustrating relationship she finally finds the courage to end on the same night her oldest and dearest friend passes away, unexpectedly leaving her his twenty acre wooded estate in Clinton, LA. Stunned by two emotionally painful blows, she requests a sabbatical, and moves to her new home over an hour’s drive from Baton Rouge. The lush sensuality of the country comes as a welcome inspiration, and Sofia begins enjoying her solitude, until satellite internet and all the handsome men romancing her online lure her restlessly back into the city. Then one evening she sees a bonfire in the distance and the silhouette of a man captures her imagination... Away from the city, the stars and the moon become a very real part of her life as they begin exerting a haunting pull on her blood in the form of intensely erotic dreams. She is disturbed yet excited by her increasingly dark desires when one evening she suddenly meets her closest neighbor - a man who looks very much like the sinisterly seductive figure in her fantasies. John introduces her to the pleasures of living off the land, even as vivid memories of another time and place begin dangerously blurring the line between dreams and reality as she dares to love a man intent on giving her everything she fears, and yet craves more than anything...

    Women's Fiction Reviews

The Fire in Starlight is a magical, mystical, metaphysical, sensual work from the prolific author of BDSM fiction and non-fiction, Maria Isabel Pita. Ms. Pita¿s ability at poetry as well as prose shines through this wonderful, astonishing, work. Although I have never read any of her books prior to this time, rest assured I intend to hunt down, read, and savor each one! Sofia is a professor of obscure folk poetry at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge. Her sole outlets for her soul and spirit are poetry, and her friendship and mentorship with an older professor, Robert. On the same evening, her seven-year relationship with her pet boytoy, Steve, ends when he hits her, and Robert dies of a heart attack. Suddenly synchronicity leaps into gear, and all good things converge. Even in her grief, she prepares to move out of the apartment she has shared with Steve, and Robert¿s will leaves her the upstate country home he had built for his wife and young daughter. The house was never inhabited because mother and daughter were killed unexpectedly in a road accident. As soon as Sofia enters her new home, the wings of her spirit begin to unfold, and within a few days she first dreams of a past life and then meets her rural neighbour, who embodies that past life lover. They enter into a relationship in which Sofia excels in the submission she experiences to his domination, and love ¿ as well as extraordinary sensuality ¿ blossoms gloriously.
