Overview

Since the publication of Darwin's Origin of Species in 1859, many have found science and belief in God irreconcilable. But recent stunning advances in physics, biology, and the new fields of chaos and complexity theory have brought the conflict to a crucial stage. This fascinating book expertly yet clearly bridges the gap between science and religion for the nonspecialist. Ferguson proves a tour de force review of the modern quest for fundamental truth. The result is a provocative, sometimes mind-bending challenge to rethink our search for the truth about ourselves, our origin, and our destiny.

Choice
In this beautifully and intelligently written book, Ferguson not only reports on some of the intellectual tremors jolting the world of thinking women and men, but also considers the basic questions with penetrating analysis, yet at a very readable level.... An excellent book. Heartily recommended.

A surprisingly interesting read.... Her writing is fresh and clear, her thinking is focused and pleasant, and she manages to take a position while fairly portraying those with whom she respectfully disagrees. This is an eminently civil and gracious book, as a wise woman of faith takes up the conflict between the scientific method (and its findings) and the assertions of monotheistic (specifically Christian) faith. The simplicity of her prose is disarming, and can make it less apparent just how much reading, arguing, listening, and thinking she has done.
