Another fabulous Holly Lisle book. I devoured the entire series

Another fabulous Holly Lisle book. I devoured the entire series and was amazed by the level of detail given to each culture and to each type of magic. I highly recommend this book and its 2 sequels.

    more from this reviewer

One heck of an adventure for a simple shepherdess.

Faia a shepherdess must overcome the loss of all those she held dear and start on a new adventure to learn how to control the immense power she can summon.
Faia feels like the underdog so I couldn't help but root for her as she starts in a magic school were things go from ok to apocolyptic in a very short time of her being there.
Felt like a slow start to the story but as it progressed the pace really sped up - interesting twist for the ending.

The plot is actually about a girl, Faia, who finds herself in a mage school for females after discovering her own powerful magical abilities. A series of grisly murders points to the saje school for males and soon becomes the target for an all-out war.

This is a must read book! READ IT,READ IT, READ IT!

This book was highly enjoyable. Sure, I have read it twice. It's really good, and I think everyone should read it. If anyone thinks otherwise of the book, well, then keep it to yourself.
