Lord Graelam de Moreton was a hard and ruthless warrior who took what he wanted and never looked back. Kassia de Lorris of Brittany is gentle, yielding, untested in the ways of men, and cheats death only to find herself wedded to a stranger at the behest of her father. Kassia is prepared to pledge obeisance to the Lord Graelam, and Graelam is willing to accept her as innocent and guileless. But a sudden, unexpected event would cast Kassia as having betrayed him, and Kassia must prove otherwise! Ably written by a seasoned and accomplished author, Fire Song is a very highly recommended large print romance that would grace any public library collection.

I have read this book at least 5 times. Yes there is rape and adultery. but i think that Catherine Coulter brings out realistic view of what life was like in the middle ages. Women had no right, they where the husbands property. people have to understand that when you read any Historical Romance, you have to transport your mentality to that time period. As brutal as the times where, women did what they had to do survive and sometimes that survival meant putting up with a selfish, egotistcal husband. Does that make it right? Not in the lease, but it should show how far we as women have come (at least i hope so).

Regardless of the author's talent, this book belongs in the trash pile. Why does C.C. make 'heros' rapists? I'm sorry, but it's never an acceptable practice, no matter what generation it is. When we first met Graelam in WARRIOR'S SONG, he was everything a hero should be until he callously raped a sweet (and nude) young servant while his men, with their snickers and their salivating tongues, watched!!!! Graelam, the pig, did this for easily obtained information which he did in fact gain mere moments later! I could never admire Ms Coulter's idea of a hero; the whole concept is a disgrace to women, especially to those who've been victims of such a horrible crime.

This is one of my favorite historical romances. Yes, the hero is a brute, but lets face it, he is a WARRIOR! Catherine Coulters characters are historically accurate. No warrior is going to sit down and recite poetry to his wife. He's going to yell at her to jump and expect her to ask how high! And I think that Ms. Coulter's hero's are wonderful because they are genuine. If you want to read a novel where the hero acts like a total jerk, feels like crap, acts like a jerk a few more times, then really feels like crap, and  realizes he loves the heroine this is for you! My favorite story line!!!

I only give 5 stars to books that make me laugh or cry or infuriate me. I was shocked beyond belief at the rape in the first book... and outraged again by deeds in this book...BUT... it was an exceptional book and I risked my boss's angst because I had to keep reading. This was a true accounting of the nature of the beast.... the one that we all must battle... and win if we are wise and persevere. WARNING... not for the faint of heart.

THIS BOOK WAS THE BEGINNING OF A BEAUTIFUL FRIENDSHIP BETWEEN ME & COULTER NOVELS... KASSIA & GRAELAM'S STORY WAS FULL OF THE TWISTS & TURNS THAT KEEP YOU READING TO THE END - I COULDN'T HELP BUT WANT TO HIT GRAELAM IN THE HEAD FOR NOT TRUSTING KASSIA, BUT IT PAID OFF THE MOMENT HE REALIZED HE COULDN'T LIVE WITHOUT HER. I LOVED EVERY MOMENT OF IT!

I enjoy Coulter's historical romances, but in this one it's frustrating that Graelim distrusts his woman for so long. I like it better when the romance clicks a bit quicker and the conflict comes from some other place.

The books are definatly not a waste of paper! She pulls you in and keeps you hooked until the end. It adds flair that she keeps it in a small series and you have the chance to peek in on the characters as they appear in other books not in the 'Song' series!
