Overview

Her Death Was Expected but Something More Powerful Kept Her Alive

A Science-fiction Story Like They Used to Write..."

-Christopher Parkening, premier classical guitarist.

Bestselling author Kathy Tyers' has rewritten her first and favorite science fiction novel to deal more fully with questions of salvation and the search for faith. If you are a fan of science fiction, Christian fantasy, or just great storytelling you will be thrilled by the important themes and intriguing plot.

Lady Firebird was born a princess of the royal family of Naetai. Because of her birthplace in the family, however, her life is expendable. Honorable suicide is the highest calling she could hope to attain. When she is chosen to lead an attack on the neighboring planet of VeeRon her death is expected. She is taken prisoner during the battle and is held by the enemy.

With her own people seeking her sacrifice, Firebird must choose between two worlds before she can carve out her new destiny. This is the story of Princess Firebird's personal spiritual battle and the eternal consequences it has not only for herself but for everyone around her and especially the man who loves her.

As an avid reader, I often have a hard time finding a good christian fiction book that I can really sink my teeth into, but the Firebird trilogy met all my needs. With action, romance, and humor, the Firebird books pose questions that get you thinking and put forward some really interesting ideas about human behavior. Kathy Tyers is now one of my favorite authors, I urge anyone, if you'er a believer or not, to read these books!!

I read this after reading some of Kathy Tyers Star Wars books. I have to say it's one of the most interesting books I've ever read! It has a Star Wars tingle to it but the story's original and I can't wait to get the next book. Netia's social customs are wierd but interesting to read about. This is definately a book you have to read.

This is coming from a younger perspective, bit more mature then most people my age but very very interested in books of this sort since ive read Fire Bird and Fusion Fire. Most books i have read i find myself never going back to them, i enjoyed them but not my taste..With Fire Bird and Fusion Fire i found this completly diffrent and have read Fire Bird and Fusion Fire about 5 times! This is definatly my favorite book so far. In a book ive tried to find things i can relate to no other book has come close as Fire Bird..(Praying for a third)

Sad to say, this rewrite leaves much to be desired. On top of pointless name changes, the insertion of religion is forced, awkward and distracting from the true story. Sour notes constantly disrupt the flow. Those who haven't read the original will probably find it ok. But for a really good story, get the original - but be aware: There's no conclusion (3rd book). That's how I got stuck reading the new version.

I adore Firebird & Fusion Fire...but Ms. Tyers _must_ write more after Crown of Fire! I would like to invite all lovers of the Firebird series to join my Yahoo! club 'The Firebird Society.' If you would like the address, please e-mail me at mari_toma@yahoo.com Clear Skies!

Kathy's best book so far. When I first read it, I was going through a tough time. This book is a renewal of faith, but to the point where it isn't preachy. I don't see how it could ever get less than 5 stars.

I am one of the fortunate people who have gotten to read both versions of FIREBIRD. Having read the new version first, it is my favorite as is often the case, and I can honestly say that this is the first book that I literally could not put down. The new FIREBIRD is more in-depth than the original, with more emotion and feeling. I liked the addition of religion in the story, especially the conflict between what Firebird knew of the Netaian false religion and what she learned of the Sentinels' truth. One of the things I especially liked was the romance between Firebird and Brennen. As a card-carrying member of the fictitious Incurable Romantics Club, I followed every scene between the two with interest. I have read FIREBIRD twice now, seeing new things each time, and I look forward to reading it again in the near future. This is one book that should be in every science-fiction lover's library, whether Christian or not. I highly recommend it!

My wife and I read her Firebird and Fusion Fire books and loved them! We love science fiction and Christian fiction. These two books are the first time we have seen the two themes combined! Excellent work! Kathy, Please write another in this series! We want to see what happens to Brennen Caldwell, Firebird, and their two children. Does Brennen go back to Federate service? Does he fully regain his memories and skills or learn to live less than what he thought he was but more trusting in HIS strength and skills. Does Firebird chose to join the Federate military? Does she go back to save her planet from self destruction? Is she the next queen? Does she make a warm loving mother, or does she struggle due to how she was raised? Do the children reflect the characteristics of their parents - willful, intellegent, skilled, and yet compassionate, loving adventure? Who will fulfill the prophesy of the One to Come? How will this take place? Will the Shuhr try to attack the Federacy or will some come to know the Mighty Singer through the witness and memories taken from Brennen? What of Carradee, Daithi, & Tel? What happens to the children who are cloned from Brennen and Phoena? These are questions that can only be answered in more books in the Firebird series! We sincerely hope you write more!
