Overview

Daniel “Fox” Matthews received the 1992 K.I.S.S. Hero Award (Knight in Shining Silver) from ROMANTIC TIMES

“In FIREBLOSSOM Cynthia Wright captures the essence of the West and the magic of romance! An absolutely wonderful read.” ~ Kathe Robin, RT BOOK REVIEWS

Daniel “Fox” Matthews, sent to Little Bighorn by the president to keep an eye on the hot-headed General Custer, is haunted by guilt for a battle outcome he couldn’t prevent. The raucous gold town of Deadwood, South Dakota seems like the perfect refuge, even though it’s located in the Black Hills, sacred land to the same Sioux Indians who decimated Custer’s troops.

Madeleine Avery, raised to be a lady in Philadelphia, is horrified when she arrives in free-wheeling Deadwood with her family. Slowly she unbends, coaxed out of her shell by a powerful attraction to Fox and a journey into the world of the Sioux Indians.

FIREBLOSSOM is a fascinating story of cultures colliding and the bittersweet, tender journey of Fox and Maddie as they discover the secrets of their own hearts.

REVIEWS:
“By including historical figures like Calamity Jane and Wild Bill Hickok, Custer and Crazy Horse, Cynthia Wright adds depth and color to an absolutely wonderful novel!” ~ ROMANTIC TIMES

“Wright weaves history and fiction together skillfully. Maddie is a proper lady who must learn to unbend. Fox is the presidential adviser who’s undercover and trying to live with a decision that left him alive while Custer’s men died. Like ‘Dances With Wolves,’ FIREBLOSSOM paints the Sioux as an idyllic people faced with the end of life as they know it. Wright creates sympathetic Indian characters and populates Deadwood with an array of real-life eccentrics. FIREBLOSSOM again shows why Wright is one of the country’s most popular romance novelists.” ~ THE SIOUX FALLS ARGUS LEADER

Meet the Author

“Romance the way it was meant to be,” raves Kathe Robin of Romantic Times Magazine about Cynthia Wright’s 13 “classic” historical romances.
A reader says: “Her warm, adventurous, loving stories match Kathleen Woodiwiss in sensuality, but have a wholesome sweetness and zest all their own.”

Cynthia Wright launched her career as a bestselling novelist with the publication of CAROLINE, when she was twenty-three. She went on to write 12 more beloved and acclaimed historical romances set in Colonial America, Regency England & America, Medieval England & France, and the American West. Seven of these, the intertwined Raveneau Novels and Beauvisage Novels, have special places on the keeper shelves of readers around the world.

Cynthia’s novels have won many awards from Romantic Times and Affaire de Coeur, but her favorites are messages from readers like this one: “Your books show love the way you want your own relationship to be: real AND romantic!” After taking a break from writing for several years, Cynthia is excited to be back as an “indie” author, bringing all 13 of her novels back as eBooks (newly edited, with gorgeous new covers!). She will also release a new Raveneau novel, TEMPEST, in 2012.

Today, Cynthia lives in northern California with her husband, Alvaro, in a 1930’s Spanish cottage. When they aren’t riding their tandem road bike or traveling in their 1959 vintage airstream, she loves spending time with her family, especially her two young grandsons. Cynthia is also a college student who says, “It’s never too late to re-write the story of your own life!”

Cynthia Wright changed eras but the love and romance didn't change! Cynthia has the knack for drawing the reader into a story and making them part of the family. You just want to keep reading! Although I read them for the beautiful romance and the lively characters, I love learning about the settings, regions and history that come along with it! Any Cynthia Wright is a no-miss read!!

WONDERFUL WAY TO READ HISTORY!! I loved the H/H, who were written with depth, love that builds slowly, tasteful lovemaking, that I didn't want the story to end. I know our wonderful character's appear in the next book so I didn't mind there wasn't an Epilogue. I bought the bundle and even though I love the Regency Period that Cynthia Wright usually writes about, this was so enjoyable too. She takes such care to incorporate history into her novels, that it adds to the richness of the story. I only have one more book of hers to read, and I feel like my family is leaving for a trip, and never returning, that is how much I loer writing. I can't recommend highly enough, not only this series (Western), but her Beauvisage and Raveneau Boxed set as well.

    Really???

    Who writes reviews like this??
It's indeed a good book. Probably historically accurate, great storyline, excellent character development and I am not related to the author.

    Tugged My Heartstrings

This book holds a very special place in my heart. I spent many, many summer vacations in the Black Hills of South Dakota, where this story takes place, and it is my favorite place on this earth. The story of Fox and Maddie drew me in immediately, probably because of the location, but I soon found myself totally engrossed in their individual stories. Maddie depicted the true strength of the women of her time in traveling across the country to begin a new life. While surprised by the living conditions she remained determined to make a decent home for herself, her father, her grandmother, and her little brother and she never faltered in her efforts to do so. She has resigned herself to never being able to find a suitable husband in this untamed area of the country and carries on in spite of it. I have to admit that Fox irritated me a bit with his determination to spend his life in self-punishment for his interactions with General Custer just prior to Little Bighorn, but, without this there would not have been a story. As I watched his story unfold I came to understand and admire him. I even fell in love with him, just as Maddie did. The depiction of life in Deadwood at the time was amazing and having visited there, I could see in my head what the characters saw as they walked through the town and visited the different shops and saloons, even the cemetery, where Wild Bill is buried. Ms. Wright did an amazing job of portraying life during the gold rush period in South Dakota, and blending her characters with the real legends that inhabited the area at that time. As Maddie takes a huge risk to make Fox realize how much he loves her and deserves to have a life with her, the story takes another unexpected turn and adds a new dimension to her families life and story. She takes a journey into history that will forever change how she thinks and lives the rest of her life, and she and Fox become even closer to each other. There are many stories going on throughout this book and all of the characters are strong and interesting to know. I loved the little bits of humor woven throughout the book and I shed a few tears at the trials these characters had to endure. This book is truly special and I will definitely be reading more by this author.

Not worth the read. More propaganda than anything else. The noble savages lived aheavenly life where everyone was unselfishly living green and free. The horrible white people were all pigs yada yada.
