All Music Guide - William Ruhlmann
On their second album, the appropriately titled Fired Up, Michael Cleveland & Flamekeeper continue to come off as a traditional bluegrass super group. Fiddler Cleveland may be the nominal frontman, but this is an ensemble of five veterans, with guitarist Tom Adams, banjo player Jessie Baker, mandolinist Jessie Brock, and bassist Marshall Wilborn each contributing original compositions and taking the lead role over the course of the disc. Wilborn gives the disc a fittingly reverent send-off with the closer, "Bigger Hands Than Mine," on which Vince Gill makes a modest appearance singing tenor vocals to Wilborn's lead. This is a band full of bluegrass prize winners, and they play like it.

    One Word: WOW

This is the second album from Michael Cleveland and Flamekeeper. It's very similar to Leavin' Town because of the mix between the traditional and contemparary style, but this is one of those albums where every song just leaves you mind-blown! It's incredible. There's a really great amount of material on this album and I really do believe that Mike and his band did a great job choosing it. There are many STRONG songs on this album, but the two that really stand out to me are Dixie Special and Monster Truck. I would highly recommend this album for any bluegrass fan in general. This album blew me away the first time I ever heard it and I think you will be blown away too with this album.
