Overview

Always read the fine print when swearing an eternal oath to gods and guardians . . .

Beholden by the sacred vows of her coven, fire witch Calista Reid agrees to temporarily mate with shifter Cullen McMahan to fulfill a mission assigned by the guardians. When tall, dark and damaged arrives on her doorstep, generating enough heat to scorch a fire witch, Calista finds herself drawn to his battle-hardened body and broken soul. His pain speaks to her own deep-rooted isolation and the intensity of his hunger slakes her passion like no other.

Cullen, scarred by a past that left him an indentured soldier to the guardians, resents yet another hump-on-command assignment . . . until he encounters the compassionate, fearless, incendiary redhead who detonates his body and reawakens the emotions sacrifice and loss had suppressed. But Cullen harbors a terrible secret-one that reaches back into Calista's troubled childhood and threatens the foundation of their growing bond.

Calista (Callie) is a fire witch who spent her life believing her parents died in an accident.
Cullen is a fire shifter who has spent the last 25 years in the service to the guardians.
When goddess Argents calls on them to work together they don’t really have the option to say no.
Callie learns that her parents didn’t die in an accident and that they were in fact evil.  Cullen is sent to her so that together they can repair the damage her parents did.  But what happens when the person you trust to help you is harboring a deep secret of his own that could damage the trust she has in him?
This book is a short, fun read and well written.  Their connection to each other is complex, intense and is some instances fun.  The story seemed very rushed and didn’t allow for any real backstory on them, which is something I would have really liked to read more of.

This was a fun quick read. I enjoyed the idea a lot. I wished it was a little longer.
The characters were fun, and the world was interesting. I plan on following the author in hopes I get more on this world she had started to set up! And it was super HOT too!!

If only there were more stars I could give this book, I would. It was a nonstop fiery page turner from the start.

Calista Reid,a fire witch, is sent on a mission by a combat boot, cigar chewing guardian Argenta. She learns and grows thru her mission. You can't help but to root for her the entire book. She is a sassy fire witch who feels alone, unwanted, and has been lied to about her parents death by everyone.

Cullen McMahan, a fire shifter, is nearing the end of his service of the guardian Argenta. He is damaged, broken and believes that he does not deserve to be happy. He has a past that he is torn about revealing to Calista, and hopes she can learn to forgive him for the awful thing he did many years earlier.

I just loved how the flow of this book was. The ending was awesome... What happened you ask? Get the book, you won't be disappointed! This is the first book by Sabrina Garie I have read. I like her writing style and look forward to reading other books by her.
