From Barnes & NobleThe Barnes & Noble Review
Naomi Kritzer's debut fantasy novel, Fires of the Faithful, absolutely blew me away. It's one of those rare stories that grabs you from the first page and compels you to keep turning the pages until you realize that you've finished the entire book in one sitting!
The story revolves around a teenage music student named Eliana. With only a year left of her violin studies at the Verdiano Rural Conservatory, she is looking forward to graduating and performing for nobility around the realm. While at the monastery-like school, she has been sheltered from the harsh reality of the outside world: war, famine, and bloody religious fanaticism. But when Eliana gets a new and mysterious roommate, Mira, her world is turned upside down. When one of her friends is accused of being a heretic and killed by the Fedeli, the ruling religious order, and Mira is kidnapped by mages, Eliana finds herself at the beginning of a quest to uncover the truth behind the famine and bloodshed.
Naomi Kritzer. Remember the name. If this first book is any indication, this woman is going to be hugely popular. Paul Goat Allen
