My name is Larkspur, and I am an Elemental.

My people use the power of the earth to sustain life and defy our enemies. I should be at my father's side as a royal princess. But as a half-breed, bastard child, that isn't going to happen.

In a world of lava and fire, I am about to face my hardest trial yet. Not one of strength, or power, but intrigue and manipulation. However, my tolerance level for anyone outside of my family is at an all-time low, and the queen who rules the Pit expects complete obedience.

As Ash's life is held in the balance, I have just three days to prove his innocence and mine. This place holds more than a scorching heat; new foes, traitors, and creatures from the depths of the lava are all trying to keep us from surviving.

The only question left. . . Can I get us all out without being burned alive?

Welcome to the Pit.

Another super good book... I loved it... After Larkspur saved the new Queen of the Deep and gets supported by the New Queen she gets sent to the Pit with Ash to serve for there crimes... Ash steps up and to save Lark from the cells by saying that he killed the 4 Enders (in Book 1)... Well they end up saving the Queen of the Pit and all her people... Lark lets the Queen know about the Traitor with in her people and the Queen Kills him and her Youngest 1/2 sister was the main cause of all the problems a long with Blackbird... Lark had to use Spirit on her to get her to stop what she was doing and in the process she got her mind burnt out... the reason Lark used Spirit on her sister is she was acting like Casava.. her mother Lark's Step Mother... all in all.. a super awesome ending now I'm caught up on Larkspurs story and can't wait to read the 5th book

Firestorm - Elemental Series Book #3 - by Shannon Mayer Another amazing read from an amazing author! This book picks up right where the last book ends, so you don't miss a second of this fabulous story. And so many twists I never saw coming - I felt like I was literally on the edge of my seat the whole time! Lark is such a special heroine and I can't get enough of her story! Cannot wait for what's next from this amazingly creative and talented author! She NEVER disappoints!

I received this book in exchange for my honest opinion but I can honestly say I would have paid for it and will gladly buy any future books in this series. I love a strong female character and Lark fills that category nicely! I recommend this series to anyone who loves science fiction. Great series!

**I received an ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review.** ---------------------- This time, Lark takes us into the fiery world of the Pit and all the intrigue it holds. Ordered by her father to face the charges levied against her by the Fire Elementals for having killed several of their Enders, Lark has no choice but to travel to the Pit along with Ash. When she seeks guidance from the Mother Goddess she is also charged with saving those who cannot save themselves while n the Pit. The characters in this series are so developed you can't help but empathize with them as they battle their way through another sticky situation. Another fast-paced, fun read in another highly-imaginative, well-crafted world by Shannon Mayer! I can't wait to read Windburn!

Wow! I will admit, I haven't read the first two so I jumped in without prior knowledge of the Lark series and what has been happening but Shannon really does a great job of subtly catching you up on the major points without it feeling repetitive. So, Lark is in trouble again (which seems normal for her!) and she captured underground along with Ash. Ash takes the blame for some things to cover for Lark and is sentenced to death. Lark doesn't accept this and does everything she can to free him and take on the queen. She meets new and old friends and it's hard for her to know who is really on her side or not. You have to feel for the girl, she's looked down upon and yet, is probably one of the strongest, most compassionate characters in the book. The ending was fantastic and I'm definitely a fan of the series now! * I received a free ARC in exchange for an honest review)

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review. This novel is the continuation of the Elemental series and picks up where Breakwater left off. Lark struggles to find her place in it all and make sense of the burdens that have been placed upon her. She works furiously to save Ash and makes some new friends along the way. Two thumbs up!

*** I received this book in an exchange for an honest review*** I've been reading Shannon Mayer since the very beginning, and her books just keep getting better and better. This is the 3rd installment of The Elemental Series. Firestorm is as phenomenal as the others in the series, if not more so. As the characters develop, so do the storylines. In this book Larkspur and Ash are taken away into The Pit, where the fire Elementals live, who are known as Salamanders. The 2 are there to pay for their crimes of the deaths of four of the Pit's Enders. What she goes through while Ash is in the dungeons is nothing short of impossible, or at least improbable. While Ash is in the dungeons, Larkspur is sent to help Brand's, the head Ender of the Pit, wife with her demanding chores. Ash will be executed in 3 days time, when the lava is at its hottest peak in nearly 300 years. Will that give Larkspur enough time to prove their innocence of the deaths, all while working with Brand's wife?? Or will she lose her friend and fellow Ender to the fiery lava of The Pit??

I received an ARC copy of this book in exchange for my honest review. First, I would highly recommend reading Recurve and Breakwater first. Aside from the fact that those two are awesome, you'll have a better understanding of character development and relationships. Second, I LOVED this book. Lark is a total badass. A strong female lead who strives to do what is right, no matter what rules she breaks or what people think of her. There's plenty of intrigue and manipulation till the end to keep you on the seat of your pants. Shannon Mayer does an incredible job with her story telling and scene description. You get drawn into the supernatural world of Elementals and are left wanting more. I can't wait to see what the next book brings for Lark.

FIRESTORM is packed full of action, danger and intrigue. Larkspur is such a strong, female character that you just can't help but love. She has had to endure so much pain and heartache in her short life, but she always manages to stay true to herself and loyal to her friends and allies. I love reading each new story and watching as Larkspur makes new friends everywhere she goes. Peta is at the top of the list of my favorites. I want a snarky, snow leopard/kitty cat familiar to call my own! Firestorm picks up where story ended with book 2. Lark and Ash are taken into custody and are returned to the pit to face judgement for the killings of the fire elements in their previous journey to the pit. We get to have a more in depth introduction to Peta, who is now Larks familiar. I love getting to know her more, and was laughing along at her spitfire personality. I was pleasantly surprised by the twists and turns throughout the book, and there were moments I was cringing and others I was in tears for the suffering our heroine had to endure. As usual, the events were very vast paced, and action packed and I was on the edge of my seat the entire time! There is a dueling love interest in this book, as Larks childhood best friend Cactus and Ash both hold a special place in Larks heart. I cannot wait to see where this goes!As with all of Shannon Mayer's books I cannot wait for the next installment, Windburn to see what happens next! This series is easily one of my absolute favorites. * This book was provided free of charge from the author in exchange for an honest review. This however does not affect the rating for the book. I have all of the Rylee series and have purchased the previous two books in the series and these are always must reads for me and will continue to be until the series comes to a close.

This is the best one yet!! I was given an ARC in exchange for an honest review but purchased my own copy because I absolutely love this book! Lark is becoming the ultimate heroine and whats awesome is she doesn't even know it. She is sensitive but strong, and she has not even discovered all of her talents. This book left me with more questions than answers and I am hooked, a total Lark addict. I won't go and write any details on the story because so many others do that so well but I will tell you I was screaming at some of the characters as they are very well written and you either love them or hate them. The wait until the next book may drive me insane. Lark is also part of the Rylee series which is also a must read and though I am upset that the Rylee series is ending, Lark is definitely stepping up. Thank you Shannon for this awesome world of elementals, shifters, vampires, demon slayers, trackers and all the other supernatural buttkickers! And thank you for the steamy couples for those of us who appreciate the love story between our favorite characters.. For those of you that have not read any of Shannons books, you are missing out on at least two of the best supernatural series that are out there. Give them a try and I look forward to seeing you on her fan page :-)

I received an ARC of Fire Storm by Shannon Mayer in return for an honest review. After reading Recurve and Break water I was sure that this would be a hit. Shannon Mayer did not let me down. Fire Storm start immediately where Break water left off. You jump right into the story and Larkspur is in trouble again. I was sitting on pins and needles to figure out how she would possibly get out of this one. You discover old loves, new loves, family love, and new friendships. This story leaves you wondering who the bad guy really is. Shannon Mayer please hurry and finish the next book, I can’t wait for Larkspur next adventure.

Swept me away! This series does things to my heart that only the most amazing series can do. Firestorm was no different, and if it's possible for this series to get better, this is the best one yet. I laughed, stressed, held my breath, and well up with tears. Larkspur's journey takes her and Ash into the Pit this time to be tried for the deaths of the Enders she killed during her quest to find the cure for the lung burrowers raging through The Rim. Queen Fiametta demands their lives in exchange for her Enders', and it seems like a hopeless situation until the mystery surrounded the Pit begins to unfold. More is transpiring in the Pit than just revenge for the supposed deaths no one can prove. Someone is altering the lava to hurt the Salamanders, the spell for sleep is lingering longer, and the Firewyrms are being hunted and killed. Lark's sole purpose is to free Ash from the dungeons before he is scheduled for execution, but she's quickly enveloped in a fight for survival that will push her further and harder than she's ever been pushed. Mother Goddess will call on her yet again, but not without a price. One of my favorite characters who made small appearances in Breakwater is Peta. She's a familiar with bad luck attached to her name. She plays so prominently in this series that she is now truly one of my favorites. From housecat to snow leopard, she not only changes forms but finds a change in heart towards the Terralings she's so inclined to despise. She and Larkspur are so well-matched, and watching their relationship evolve was truly wonderful. If you've read Recurve and Breakwater, you absolutely can't put off reading Firestorm!

I received this book from the author as an ARC and I can honestly say I loved the book!! The characters are excellent and the story is filled with action. It starts from the beginning of the book up until the end and you're just hoping the next book is in the works so you don't have to wait long for the next story. I love Lark and how she's such a strong character. I also appreciate that it's not always serious, she tends to use some sarcasm which I love when reading a book. I couldn't find anything I didn't like about this book. I recommend this book to anyone and actually told a friend that they should read this series so she has it on her list of what she wants to buy next. You won't be disappointed. I am hoping there are many more books to come in this series.

** I received an ARC copy in exchange for an honest review ** This is the 3rd book in the Elemental series. It is highly recommended to read the first books prior to starting this one. Recurve (book 1) introduced us to the world of Elementals and took place in the realm of the terralings, the elementals controlling the earth element. Breakwater (book 2) saw Larkspur saving the future queen of the undines, the elementals controlling water and took place at Deep, we humans know that as the bermuda triangle (now we know why ships are getting lost there). Firestorm (book 3), as the title is hinting, is taking place in the realm of the salamanders, the elementals controlling the fire element. The book starts right where breakwater has left us. Lark, her sister Belladonna and Ash have returned from the Deep but Lark had barely time to catch her breath when she is caught by Enders from the Pit, the home of the salamanders. In Recurve, Lark had gone to the Pit to find a cure for her dying people but had faced opposition from the Enders from the Pit and had to fight them and ultimately killed 4 of them. Now she has to face the consequences as it was already hinted in Breakwater. In Breakwater her father had send her to the Deep to escape but now he tells Lark that she has to go to the Pit, as the mother goddess needs her to save a life. Who that life is, is quite surprising (it is not the queen this time), and there are several other surprising twists as well. Shannon Mayer certainly knows how to play the characters and keeps you entertained. I loved to see the bonding of Peta and Lark as it was hinted in the Rylee Adamson novels. Peta is a wonderful character and such a cat (cat owners will understand how I mean this). However, I would have loved a slightly slower pace in terms of time. Everything is happening actually within 3 days and the action in Breakwater was also just a couple of days. Lark has been trained as an Ender less than 6 months ago. It is tough to think that she is learning that fast and can break through the barriers in her mind so quickly. Also, (*spoilers ahead!!), the development of the relationship between Cactus and Lark took me a bit by surprise. I had the impression he was more like a brother to Lark. And I really really don't like love triangles!!! Anyhow, Shannon has left enough room here so it could go either direction. Sometimes when really bad things happen to people, you ask why a god (or in this case the mother goddess) allows this. It was good to see in this series that Lark's growing up being rejected and not accepted because she is not good enough gave her the compassion to defend Peta (the bad-luck-cat) and even feel for the firewyrms. Would she been able to be the same with a different upbringing? Very interesting! Lastly, I can't wait to find out more about Griffin and the Mother goddess! It is quite obvious that each book focuses on one element. So the next one will take place most likely in the world of the Sylphs, the elementals controlling wind. The element spirit will be very interesting as there are not many (if any) elementals left and they never had some kind of realm. Maybe that will be the book where Lark finds out more about her mother and earns her name as the Destroyer?

I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review. The third installment of Shannon Mayer's Elemental Series has us entering the Pit, home to the fire elementals. Lark is in a race against time to prove her innocence in order to save Ash from certain death at the hands of the strict and hardened queen of the Pit. In doing so she is thrust into a secret war for power she wants nothing to do with and must fight invisible enemies who seem to know more about her than she does. Thankfully she is not alone. New, and unexpected, allies join old friends to help Lark uncover the mysteries of the Pit. Beautiful imagery abounds as Lark's world continues to grow and evolve. This book is a wild ride filled with action, intrigue, new alliances, and twists you didn't see coming. I didn't want the book to end, especially when I read the last chapter. All I can say is, Windburn cannot come fast enough!

The Elemental Series by Shannon Mayer is awesome! Firestorm is the best one yet. Lark the main character makes you root for her every step of the way. She is clever, kind and one badass Elemental! This series is one that I could not put down! Here characters and story are vivid and are easily come to life. Mayer keeps you guessing and always wanting to come back for more! I can't wait for the next one! I was given an ARC copy of this book by the author for an honest review.

Where to start...we pick up right where Breakwater ended and the action is not far behind. We start to see another side of Lark's father and after wanting to punch him in the face in earlier books, I'm starting to feel a bit sorry for him. Lark and Ash find themselves in the Fire elementals domain once again to answer for the deaths of the Ender's they got into it with during Recurve in an effort to save their family. Right away they are taken to the fire queen and things go down hill from there. Ash makes the ultimate sacrifice for Lark but Lark being Lark isn't having any of that. She has just three days to clear their names and convince the queen to let Ash go but she's met with resistance at every turn. Their goddess is not help as she assures Lark she's put into this position for a reason. One of her creatures are being wrongfully harmed and she wants Lark to stop it. I was also glad to see our favorite familiar Peta back as the reluctant charge to Lark. Firestorm is action packed from beginning to end and I was hooked from the first sentence until 4.5 hours later I reached THE END. The next book is sure to be as outstanding as the rest. There were moments of laughter and others of anger over the injustice that Lark must face in this test of strength and will. I was glad to see the relationship that was starting to grow between Lark and Bella continue to blossom. We are thrown a curveball but I'll let you find that one out yourself although I must say I wasn't shocked when the culprit was revealed. I had a suspect of who it could have been and I was thrilled to find out I was right, although I'm not sure how Lark hadn't figured it out until afterwards. With gems like this Ms. Mayer continues to be a pre order, can't wait to get my hands on author for me. Bravo and I can't wait to get my hands on the next one.

I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review. Firestorm picks up right where Breakwater ends. Ash and Lark are being taken into the pit to answer for events that happened in Recurve. Lark, being Lark, has to find a way to say everyone. She can't leave someone to be hurt. She does whatever she can to help, no matter the costs to her. We see more of Peta. That cat is awesome. Firestorm does not end on a cliffhanger. I cannot wait to read more.

WOW! This book hits the ground running. Once I finished Breakwater, I could hardly wait for the next Lark book to come out. And this one, delivers a fast paced, story full of twists and turns. I was lucky enough to receive an ARC in exchange for an honest review. And I do mean lucky! Lark, Ash, and Peta are in the book. As well, a return of Cactus, Lark's childhood friend. New characters are brought into the story, and you quickly become caught up in their storylines and hope to see them return. The characters are all well written and developed. Even some that are foreshadowed for future stories. Storylines are great and we get to see some of the behind the scenes plots involving Peta and Lark's Mother. I particularly love hearing the back stories. This book is written with vivid descriptions of what the pit looks like. You could almost feel the heat from the Lava during some of the scenes. I love how the storyline seems to begin to tie in with the Rylee series. I can't wait to see what happens in the next one!

I received an ARC copy in exchange for an honest review. Lark and Ash embark on another adventure that is even more exciting and dangerous than the last. I loved the relationship/tension between Lark and the Queen of the Pit, it left you guessing and rooting for Lark to put her in her place every time she saw her! I love how Mayer pulls you right into the story, I felt like I was in the pit with them. I was a little disappointed at first with the absence of Ash, BUT it allowed us to learn more about Cactus and how their relationship will evolve after him being out of his life for so long. Love how Lark is developing as a character and becoming even more of powerhouse, and with Peta by her side now......her stepmother should be very worried! Very well written and intriguing. Great series so far and can't wait to read the next one!

Firestorm The Elemental Series Book 3 Shannon Mayer 5 Bookgasums Each book in this series just gets better and better. For me the character development was slow in the beginning but now I am at that point where I find myself wanting to yell at some of the characters and hug others. I feel there is a complete, full development of the characters, the setting and the story in general. I like how the character names in each ‘family’ comes from the element they embody. I could not wait to see what names Ms Mayer came up with for the Fire family as I was having a hard time trying to figure out fire names. The story pace is steady and action packed with intrigue and a budding romance mixed in. I did not notice any major grammar errors or I am so enthralled by the story I do not even notice them. I cannot wait to find out more of Lark’s story, especially since I know where she will end up in the future. I also want to learn more about the old recluse wolf who has been helping Lark along the way. If you want to find out more, please check out Ms Mayer’s other fantastic series with the Tracker Rylee and her Scooby-Doo like band of friends. You will not be disappointed.
