First Christmas Record for Children

Editorial Reviews

All Music Guide - Michael Gallucci
Originally released in 1954 and padded with three bonus tracks for the digital age, First Christmas Record for Children is a timeless, yet tepid, run-through of holiday favorites "Here Comes Santa Claus," "Frosty, the Snow Man," "Jingle Bells," et. al. as performed by some of the era's palest stars like Doris Day, Ray Heatherton, and Mitch Miller & the Sing-Along Gang. You're not liable to hear a more family-friendly Christmas album...or a more soulless one. Indisputable highlights: Jimmy Boyd's cute "I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus" and Gene Autry's definitive take on "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer."

    Missing Lots

I am disappointed in the CD version of this - it is missing not only the Littlest Christmas Tree but Happy Birthday Jesus, March of the Christmas Toys and more.

    A Timeless Treasure

Frist Christmas Record for Children is one of the Best Christmas records ever. I have been looking for this record for a couple of years to give copies to my ten brothers and sisters and my necies and nephews. It holds many wounderful memories of our childhood. I was very disappointed to find that "The Littlest Christmas Tree" by Red Skelton was left off - It is our favoriate. I ask that who ever reproduced this record add the Red Skelton soundtrack. it just isn't the same without it.

Does anyone know where I can find this with the Red Skelton "The Littlest Christmas Tree" Have a Merry Christmas

    Wow I can't believe it

This was and is my favorite Christmas album. There is one track missing from the origional record. This happens to be the most important to me. It is "The Littlest Christmas Tree" by the late Red Skelton. I wish that it was included.

    Couldn't Believe It!

When I saw the cover of this CD I couldn't believe it!!! I thought I would never find this again. This was a huge family tradition when I was growing up. I have the original vinyl record, but its unplayable. Everyone should buy this record just so they know their "purpose in being here".

    This made my heart leap

I grew up with this album as well and I was so excited to find it again. Our album was long gone and sadly missed. I remember as a child my whole family singing these songs and on Suzy Snowflake my Mom would get us all to do the big WEEEEEEEEEEEE the rides on me part together. These songs truly make you smile and remind you what the Christmas spirit is all about.

And showers of snowballs...and showers of snowballs...

That's where the needle stuck, usually just as my dad was about to take a bite of his dinner. "Daaadddyyyy, fix the record!" It is STILL a part of our holiday dinner every year - and his grandkids are now all teenagers! Dad/Grandpa won't have to "fix" that record any more!!! He's made tapes of the original for all of us, but I've been looking for it on CD for YEARS!!!

A classic Children's (young and old) recording

I still have the original record (slightly scratched)that my seven children played over and over again. My youngest is now 32 and one of my oldest daughters inquired of the record. She still remembers how much she enjoyed it and would like her children to be able to get the same feelings she still has. We all highly recommend this recording.

The greatest Christmas album ever recorded

Our family had an old beat-up copy of the LP that we would drag out every Christmas. It actually belonged to my mother when she was a little girl. When we moved, somehow the album got misplaced and was never seen again. You don't know how excited I was to see this CD!!! I bought copies for everyone in my family. ''The Littlest Snowman'' gives me the goose-bumps everytime I hear it. The bonus tracks are a nice touch, but not really necessary. I would have rather seen the tracks put all the way at the end of the CD, so as not to break up the original line-up of songs (but that is easily fixed by programming my CD player). Thanks to whoever had the smarts to re-issue this classic.

The Best Christmas Record of All Time

I've been looking for this album for years. Our old LP is over 30yrs old and is pretty wrecked. One thing I'm disappointed to find is they left out the Little Christmas Tree by Red Skelton. Besides that I'd suggest this Christmas record to anyone with children.

    Memories Galore

This album was my childhood favorite. I have spent years searching for it in modern technology to share with my grandson. Every Christmas I pull out the old warped record to remind me of the joys of childhood Christmas. The Littlest Snowman still brings tears to eyes after all these years.
