Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature
This charming book would be an asset to an elementary school classroom where students are learning French. The Boot family lives on their apple farm. The story is told in French with English translation beneath. The adorable, colorful pictures show the many things found on a farm, from bees to straw, accompanied by the French words and English translations. Parts of the house, garden, orchard and laundry are identified. In the living room of the home, the family members are shown doing daily activities to highlight useful vocabulary. The family travels by train to the beach where they play in the sand, and the children cover their father in sand by the water's edge. They are shown on a picnic with their dog where items such as, blanket, umbrella, cheese, are introduced. Common words and phrases involved with everyday life of a family are introduced in this well illustrated book. It is full of interesting activities with which children can identify. 2002, Usborne Publishing Ltd, Ages 6 to 10.
