Absolutely intense from cover to cover

Thank-you so very much for the other side of the battlefield of dropship massacre. I personally loved Galaxy in Flames and this book only adds to its intensity. Very well done and a must read for all who follow the Heresy. I was on the battlefield,in the warp,at the ritual and so on due to the excellent description. Again,Thank You! for a brutally discripted book and can't wait till we go to Calth and flay some weak arse Ultramarines!!!

    Very disappointing

Having been a fan of pretty much all the Warhammer 40,000 novels, especially the Horus Heresy series, I was looking forward to this one. That I have painted a few squads of Word Bearers helps too.

However I found the writing very disappointing. Not to spoil to much, but I felt the main character to be inconsistently written and not represented very well. There were a few side characters who were not 'fleshed out' in any way, leaving them feeling quite shallow and trivial. Also I did not care for the scene descriptions, or lack there of. Maybe part of the issue is I read this coming off Flight of the Eisenstein ... which is brilliant.

A great novel in the series

I have been reading the entire series. I think this is one of the best of a great run. Really looking forward to the rest of the series now.
