Editorial Reviews

All Music Guide - Scott Yanow
This attractive three-CD set gives listeners an overview of Ella Fitzgerald's Verve recordings, although the inclusion of seven previously unissued cuts in addition to 44 that are mostly available in more complete form elsewhere will frustrate some completists. However the careful selection of representative performances along with the informative and lengthy text make this highly enjoyable reissue which captures her in prime form recommended even to collectors who have most of the singer's albums.

    Just Doesn't Get Any Better!

This lady is America's finest vocalist ever with regard to pop and jazz! Any title by Ella Fitzgerald is worth a listen. While they are not all essential you can't go wrong buying anything with her name attached to it! Ella will bring you endless hours of joy!

    Ella Kicks Imposters in Buttocks

Well, where to start? She can sing quietly - beautifully- an underrated talent, and a rare one to achieve without sounding like you're just talking. The dejected, beautiful cynicism of "Lush Life" has to be one of the most evocative of her songs: recalling places we haven't been and feelings we've never had, for those of us who have only sniffed around the edges of this wonderful, indulgent but humble misery. My skin still prickles when I hear it, and it makes the sad experiences of a wasted adulthood seem both desirable and dream-like. Does anybody know what I mean? Contact me if you do!

    THE VERY BEST OF ELLA!!!!

I really love this cd set. Her voice is so sultry and devine. This cd tracks her career for many years and includes the greatest standards of all time.
