Editorial Reviews

School Library Journal
Gr 3-5This novel attempts to present the difficulties and frustration felt by children with attention deficit disorder and by the adults who care for them. Paige wants to win a writing contest so she can meet her favorite TV actress, but she is easily distracted and despite her best efforts, doesn't succeed. The actress, however, asks to meet her because she happens to have a daughter who also has been diagnosed with ADD. The writing is just serviceable, with the distinct aftertaste of bibliotherapy, and the black-and-white line drawings are unmemorable. In spite of the stilted plot and writing, there may be a slight chance that this would be useful in school settings to help young readers understand ADD. Be advised, however, that this is a book of mediocre quality with very limited appeal.Christine A. Moesch, Buffalo & Erie County Public Library, NY

Meet the Author

Jaye Andras Caffrey: Jaye Andras Caffrey is a Louisiana tax lawyer, online columnist for MDNews, poet, mother, and writer. In February 2006, New Orleans City Business recognized her as a 'Woman of the Year.' She is presently completing a master's degree in fine arts with emphasis in creative fiction at the University of New Orleans, Louisiana, where she lives. Despite her achievements, her childhood was saddened by an undiagnosed attention deficit disorder. A voracious reader and incessant daydreamer as a child, she often felt lonely and confused. Since her diagnosis at the age of thirty-one, she has found new ways to deal with the distractibility, disorganization, and loneliness once so evident in her life.

Lynne Adamson: Lynne Adamson has worked in the graphics field including television graphics, advertising, and publishing all of her adult life. A forty-year resident of Las Vegas, NV, Lynne worked as Art Director for TV8 and TV3 in Las Vegas, as well as Art Director for several Las Vegas advertising agencies. She was Advertising Creative Director for the Greenspun Media Group, that publishes the alternative paper Las Vegas Weekly, InBusiness Las Vegas, and several magazine publications. Lynne also spent two years as a Graphic Specialist for the Las Vegas Review-Journal.
