    Bad

I love all Joan Swan's books, especially the Phoenix series, but this was bad, really bad. Everything in the story was exaggerated: the way the characters behaved, the plot about drug smugglers, the undercover work, even the sex scenes. So exaggerated that it was all unrelatable, unrealistic and pretty lame. It surprised me, because I had enjoyed reading the first book in the Covert series, about Rio. What surprised me also is that I read a lot, and always finish the books, even the boring ones. This one I put down several times ready to delete it. But since I paid for it, and it is Joan Swan, I decided to finish it even if it killed me. I ended up skimming paragraphs at a time just trying to finish it. The end was no better. The book may have been short, but to me it felt as if would never end. What a disappointment.

There's something about an incredibly well-written book that defines the genre (romantic suspense) tells the whole story (in a 40,000 word novella), demands emotion from the reader, and has purpose and meaning behind scorching sex scenes (buyer be advised). I'm in awe of the quality of Joan's writing. This was the second of Joan's books I've read, and it won't be the last!

First Temptation is part of the Wicked First Anthology package, which features 6 amazing stories by 6 amazing authors.  But this is my review of Joan Swan’s First Temptation.
First Temptation is a novella in Joan’s Covert Affair series.  In FT we get to see what makes Taft Walker tick.  And BOY HOWDY does Taft have some tricks up  his sleeve *wink, wink*  What tricks you may ask?  Well what would you say if I told you that Taft has to go undercover with Zoe.  This will be Zoe’s first undercover operation.  And what do they have to pose as?  Why a couple that owns a sex shop.... :)  Yep!! Taft & Zoe get to own a sex shop.  Needless to say these two have fun.
And that is all you are getting from me.
    Disclaimer:
I received a complimentary copy of the book in exchange for an honest review. This review is my own opinion and not a paid review.
