Overview

Life changed for me in three days- the day my mother died, the day my dad married Candice and the day I met Kennedy Jenner.

From the moment I saw him, I was drawn to him. Like a moth to a flame, I couldn’t keep away from the irresistible heat of the fire. That knowing, confident smile...those beautiful pale blue eyes...and those dimples....simply delicious. Who could resist such a beautiful strong man?

Hope York transformed herself from boring small town girl into a flawless beauty on the outside. But inside, she never changed. Kennedy Jenner was a successful, wealthy and jaw dropping handsome man that could have whatever he wanted, on his own terms. And he wanted Hope. But would he still want her after he saw her for who she really was, instead of what she carefully planned for everyone to see? And will his own secret past stand in his way for getting what he really wants?

Editorial Reviews

Amazon - Tammy Towner
I absolutely loved this book from the very beginning. The only time I became upset was when it was over. Kennedy's comments made me laugh out loud multiple times. I highly recommend this book. I would give it > than 5 stars if possible.
Amazon - The Reader Cyndi
I really enjoyed this book from the first page to the very end. The story was sweet, the sex was steamy and the characters very likeable. Kennedy and Hope made a good pair, I like the honesty between them. If I could complain about anything it would be that there doesn't appear to be a sequel. There are plenty of places to go to further these and the supporting characters I would love to see. May-be the author will consider it, I hope so. But, I would recommend this book to anyone and will most

I really enjoyed this book it got my attention from the beginning and just couldn't put it down. What I liked the most is that Kennedy was a very normal guy, yes he is rich and sexy and protective but not excessively dominant like other novels where the male protagonist ends up boring you whit his negative attitude and trauma from the past. I also liked that Hope accepted everything that comes whit the man, his past, his help, his money and gifts like any normal girl in her situation would do. T

I started this book and was gripped straight away. One of them where you stay up a bit too late because you just want to read a bit more :)

Even though it is not the same story line, this book reminded me of bared to you, in the respect that the characters are indepth and the love story very intense and passionate.

Both Hope and Kennedy meet and there is instant attraction that we get to see blossom as their relationship develops. Both really likeable characters and a great end

    more from this reviewer

A perfect blend of romance, sex and reality, this book was beaut

A perfect blend of romance, sex and reality, this book was beautiful, sweet, and real.  Hope lands her dream job in a plush New York hotel.  It’s here, on her first day, that she runs in to Kennedy, a wealthy man who knows exactly what he wants.  When they meet, there’s an instant attraction that can be felt as you read the words on the page, and their whirlwind romance begins.

The characters that the author created for this story shared a chemistry that felt real.  Hope was insecure, sweet and ambitious, and those insecurities made it really easy for me to relate to her feelings.  Kennedy is the epitome of an Alpha male.  Strong, sexy, dominant, and with a “broken” past, he has poured so much of himself into his work, creating situations where he sees something he wants and he takes it.  When the two of them meet, their worlds are turned upside down and an intense relationship develops between the two of them. Their moments of intimacy are erotic and tastefully written; making their relationship all the more beautiful, and their romance, while flawed like most, is just perfect.

If you’re looking for a Fifty Shades type of dominance (minus the childish drama), you’ll thoroughly enjoy First Thing I See.

    Sequel??

This book left me wanting more. It ended rather abrupt. Almost like there's a sequel or something that's coming.

Romance is like a breath of fresh air and this story is no excep

Romance is like a breath of fresh air and this story is no exception. Vi Keeland found a way to weave the chemistry into the life of both characters with her can't stop reading technique. It's a very enjoyable read with realistic and heart thumping writing style.
A romance novel that shows you love is always the happiness dose we all continuously seek whether it's in our current situation, or one we hope for in the future. It's an empowerment, hope, and riding on the crest of the wave story that leaves you feeling good, and determined to now make your own dreams come true.
Hope the main character, aptly named I must say, had decided to reinvent herself. She moved across the country, changed her wardrobe, and followed a little in her friends footsteps to be who she thought she should be. After landing a new job, the one she had coveted, she met who she thought was 'the one'. He was handsome all over, charming, and the chemistry was immediate just upon seeing him, let alone what she felt when he brushed just her hand.
As with any relationship, Hope and Kennedy went through the machinations of learning about one another, trusting each other, and finding out what their inner most thoughts are. Their process is not only entertaining, but fanciful and enveloping. You could feel the chemistry and emotions with each word she wrote. Her descriptive writing drew you into the scenes with such clarity and emotion, that you had to keep reading. You knew, from an outsider, what mistakes she was making and just had to keep reading to know that she eventually got it right.
Kennedy, even though it was written with Hope as the first person, still gave you enough insight into his world to understand him and root for him and Hope's future. What makes him become who he is, and what is going to make him be what they both need in the future is a process you watch develop throughout the storyline. It isn't held in secret with you wondering until the end, which makes you get attached to this character as much as you do Hope.
What Hope discovers is, her past influenced her development; it didn't change the core of who she was. When she changed her wardrobe and moved across the country, she was really just giving herself permission to be who she always has been. It took Kennedy to show her the truth, even though her best friend had been telling her that for years. She realized that if Kennedy could see that, having only known her for a short time, then it must be true. Sometimes it takes a window instead of a mirror to see what has been right in front of us all along.
It's a fun story and romantic as ever. Get the book, you will definitely enjoy it and enthusiastically look for Vi's next one.

I have never written a review before, but this book was horrible

I have never written a review before, but this book was horrible and I was compelled to say something! Her other two books were okay, so I bought this one as well, but this was just bad! The writing was bad, the sex was exactly the same as her other books (so very predictable) and there was a ton of unnecessary f bombs. Don’t waste your money on this one!

    Bad fifty shades of grey.

The characters were shallow and boring. I skipped most of the book.

    Good, but not my favorite

I really loved "Worth the Fight" and bought this book because of it. This story was not bad but the conflict between the leads was a bit thin. Needed some proofreading too. Not bad but doesn't live up to how great "Worth the Fight" was. Give that book a try over this one.

I really liked the story line.

This is the first book of Vi Keeland's that I've read and I have to say that I really liked it. The writing seems a bit formal but you get used to it quick. The story line was sweet and I got sucked in to the point that I read it within 24 hours and I work full time. It reminds me a what my husband calls a "chick flick" movie.

    Wow

    ## Holy freaking cow! This book was spectacular. So much fun to read. During the first chapter the heroine was so tongue-tied after meeting the hero I thought she was going to be a doormat. I'm happy to report she is not. Both the hero and heroine were well developed, likeable characters who each had their own issues to overcome. Their chemistry was off the charts. I loved how fiercely Kennedy persued Hope and how he immediately broke off his "arrangement" with another woman as soon as he meets her. From waitresses to flight attendents to ex-lovers to step sisters to co-workers to a best friend (a professional cheerleader no less) who puts Barbie to shame, Kennedy only has eyes for Hope. Nice touch Vi. I will be reading this again. Highly recommended.
