Description: This is the second edition of a comprehensive and user-friendly clinical reference for identification and management of diseases in fish. Like the first edition published in 1996, this edition is organized into three major parts that detail diagnostic methods, specific clinical problems, and pertinent treatment modalities. This book is distinguished from other references of its kind in that discussions of specific clinical problems are organized as they would be encountered in the clinical case work-up as opposed to by traditional body systems or etiology. The sequential arrangement of problem discussions facilitates clinical application to real world cases.
Purpose: According to the author, the purpose is "to guide readers through the most commonly encountered fish diseases" and to provide information necessary to effectively manage disease in a clinical setting. In addition to providing detailed information on fish diseases, this book places emphasizes the clinical approach to diagnosis and management of these diseases. A comprehensive, accurate, and clinically useful reference is essential to the field of fish medicine considering the continued growth of aquaculture and popularity of aquarium fish.
