Meet the Author

Ruth Starke has worked in public relations and travel marketing, and at many other jobs. Her most interesting ones, she says, were selling French perfume, cooking on the radio, taking tourists to Kashmir, and interviewing racecar drivers. She turned to fiction writing in 1992, and since then has written over a dozen novels for young people. Ruth lives in Adelaide, Australia, where she is an English and creative writing teacher.

Tom Jellett has been illustrating books since graduating from the University of South Australia in 1995. He has illustrated a number of picture books and novels. Tom lives in Sydney, Australia, and works as an illustrator for The Australian.
