Presented in a new edition that adds updated pattern industry news and revised rules for selecting pattern size, this easy and practical fitting system requires no measuring, no drafting skills, no muslin mock-upsand it works with all brands of tissue paper patterns. Real people of all ages are featured in photographs that explain the steps of cutting out pattern pieces, pinning them together, and adjusting the fit. Special attention is paid to tricky challenges such as accommodating a full bustline, adjusting sleeves, or reworking a garment to make it more flattering, as well as alternative fitting methods such as draping and computer design. Metric conversion charts, charts for comparing pattern company bodice measurements, and a history of American dress design (Just where did size 10 come from?) make this book a versatile reference.

This is a really good book to help with basic pattern alterations. Clear concise instructions, good illustrations--The only problem I have with it is that it doesn't include pants. You will have to buy another book to get instruction on pant fitting.
I bought this book specifically for the chapter on doing bust adjustments because I'm very big busted. It had so many more useful things i ended up reading it cover to cover. They explain everything extremely clearly and use many great photos and diagrams to help as well. This is the ultimate guide to help you fit patterns. If you have an asymmetrical body, a bigger bust, smaller bust, a round tummy, no booty or huge booty there is a clear explanation in this book on how to fit whatever unique body issues you might have with your patterns. Also there is some great chapters to help with designing stuff for yourself. Chapter on how to fit women's patterns to teens who are in that in between stage and have a hard time finding patterns for their age. Over all i love this book and i use it as a reference on almost all my sewing projects.
