Overview

The bedrock of any relationship is communication; yet, the ability to communicate isn’t intrinsic to our natures. We must learn to do it. This book takes a look at the many methods and techniques which can be learned and developed to help build your relationships within the many different spheres of your life. From marriage to business, the principles taught in this book can help you achieve stronger relationships through the use of effective communication skills. Developed from Biblical principles and extensively tested, Fitly Spoken will give you the tools you need to become an effective and dynamic communicator.

Have you ever said something you didn’t mean? Have you ever struggled to express your feelings? Have you ever said something you later regretted? Have you ever acted on misunderstanding and either been hurt or hurt someone else? Do you find yourself arguing endlessly with neither giving in nor anything getting accomplished? Have you tried to correct someone in sincerity only to have them be offended? If you answered “yes” to any of these questions, then this book is for you.

Learn to express yourself in ways that others understand and can relate to. Learn to avoid the dangers of misunderstandings and cut through tangled emotions to discern what is really trying to be said. Use trigger words and phrases to promote positive reactions to negative situations. Establish good communication lines with those around you, and forge stronger and more meaningful relationships in every area from personal to business. Learn what to say, how to say it, and when to say it.

Written for the average person or the business professional, Fitly Spoken is your guide to developing strong communication and social skills in any environment or circumstance. Life is relationships—and communication is how we explore the depth and breadth of that relationship. This book will give you the tools to effectively communicate with everyone in your life.

Meet the Author

Greg S. Baker was born in 1975 to a Christian couple. Raised in church all his life, he came to accept Jesus as his Saviour and attended Hyles-Anderson College, graduating with a Bachelors’ degree in Pastoral Theology. He now pastors an Independent Baptist church in northern Colorado.

His writing passion pervades nearly every aspect of his life. As a child, he was an avid reader that fell in love with words and their ability to stir the imagination and convey ideas. While in High School, he attempted and completed his first novel only to see it rejected. Despite this setback, he turned his writing skills towards more productive means. It became a tool by which he conveyed his passion for his God and Saviour to the world around him. As a pastor, he uses his love for writing to bring to others his nearly twenty years of experience in the ministry, counseling marriages, and healing relationships.

Fitly Spoken is his first published work.

He is married to the love of his life, Liberty and has four incredible boys whom alternately remind him of the excitement of youth and the inevitability of the passage of time. He loves to play sports, chess, and tinker around with computers. Other than pastoring, his other duties include marriage counselor, chaplain for the sheriff’s office, and editor for the Christian Family Quarterly newspaper.

“Life is relationships,” he once explained. “It’s not your things, your possessions, or your money that make life valuable and important. It is your relationships. It is why I do what I do.”

    This Book Really Helped Me!

Many books seem to give information that is either too specific or too general for practical use. Not this one. This book offered tools that I found I could implement immediately. So far, I have gone back to this book repeatedly as a means to help perfect my everyday communication skills.

I'm one of those people who do better with a pen and paper than face to face talks. But with the techniques offered in this book, I've been able to improve my ability to express my self the way I wanted to. It has been very nice.

The author has a way of putting things that makes it down to earth useful. I highly recommend this book to anyone who is struggling to communicate. It has helped me from my marriage all the way to where I work. I really liked the chapter on establishing good communication lines with those around me. I've found all of my relationships do better when I communicate better.

Now, if I can only stay consistent! :)
