Editorial Reviews

Publishers Weekly
Five pastel bunnies replace bed-jumping monkeys in this board-book twist on a familiar nursery rhyme. “Five bouncing bunnies/ hopping on the floor./ One jumps away/ and then there were...” opens the story, as the five terminally cute rabbits jump rope in a cozy living room. The answer (four, in this case) opens the rhyme that follows on the next page, with additional rabbits departing with each page turn. Flocked bunnies also peek over the edge of each spread; counting them lets readers come up with the correct numerical answer before they flip the page. A sweet Easter-time rhyme. Ages 2–4. (Jan.)
Children's Literature - Emily Griffin
Feel the bunny's fuzzy tail on the cover of this Easter themed board book. The five-page book counts down from five bunnies until there is just one left. Starting with five bouncing bunnies hopping on the floor, "one jumps away and then there were...." The bunnies are also seen hiding Easter eggs in a tree, decorating eggs in a home, and making Easter baskets outside in a sunny field. The last bunny is bouncing with his basket of eggs shouting, "Let's have some fun!" while the other bunnies reappear to hunt for eggs. The illustrations are soft-pencil drawings with pastel watercolors that show these cuddly, anthropomorphic bunnies enjoying Easter together. Other creatures are shown in the background of each scene—yellow chicks, a tiny mouse, an owl, and a turtle. Overall, a light and easy book that could encourage dialogue (count how many bunnies, what are those chicks doing?, how many eggs can you spot?). An enjoyable Easter read. Reviewer: Emily Griffin
