Welcome to my poetry and art world! The celebration of life dancing across the pages in this book examines the joy of pregnancy, our contributions to America, love, and the injustices of the American criminal justice system. You will enjoy lyric poetry, revolutionary verses, prose, and romantic poems in Five Cells. My poetry is reflective of life's joys, sorrow, love, and our cry for justice. The book includes my award-winning poem Prism Waters, birthed when I lived in Mount Vernon, NY that is published in Centre of Expression, published by Noble House. Also, be the first to read a new poem entitled Shake Down. I am sure you will enjoy the natural beats found in A Song, envision a swan dance in Cascading Rockets, and ride on the wave of love in A Song. These re-edited poems appeared in Sequins in the Sky, a book published by Publish America in 2007.

About the Author

Gwendolyn Cahill was born and raised in New York City. However, her family migrated to the North from Virginia, North Carolina, and Baltimore. Gwen won the International Poet of the Year in 2005. Her published works include plays, novels, and poems. She is a comedian at heart; however, she has experienced injustices in the criminal justice system. She is a former Social Caseworker who has experienced economic rights, employment, and housing right. The path to freedom for victims of injustice is long. Cahill has a Master of Science in Communications Studies and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mass Communications. She is a board member of the Virginia State NAACP.
