Five Little Christmas Angels

Five Little Christmas Angels

by William Boniface, Lynn Adams (Illustrator)

Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature
Five little angels carry the message of Christ's birth to the evening star, the three wise men, the lowing cattle, a shepherd boy, and the multitudes. The recipients of the news are depicted as interested, surprised, and pleased. The final scene shows the shepherd and the wise men kneeling before the crib, which pops up from the centerfold. The countdown rhyme is appropriate for the subject and would be fun for preschoolers to do as a fingerplay. However, here is a large black and white "Warning" on the cover to alert adults to the five small plastic angels glued onto the card stock pages and contained in die-cut circles. It explicitly states that this presents a choking hazard for children under 3 years old. Without this gimmick, the book would have been enjoyed by a wider audience range. 2003, Price Stern Sloan, Ages 4 to 5.
