Editorial Reviews

Publishers Weekly - Publisher's Weekly
In this zany cumulative verse, five silly simian siblings insist on bedtime mayhem, and--heedless of the doctor's admonition--each suffers the same injury. Ages 3-8. (Oct.)
"Whether sublimely happy or ridiculously goofy, Christelow's expressive monkeys pack a lot of appeal."
School Library Journal - School Library Journal
PreS-Gr 1-- In a brief prelude to the title rhyme, five little monkeys ready themselves for bed, and say goodnight to their mother. Then, really getting down to business, they launch into some serious bed-jumping. Young children familiar with this popular finger play will appreciate Christelow's incorrigible monkeys, jumping with abandon, oblivious to the repeated warning: ``No more monkeys jumping on the bed!'' Newcomers will find the rhyme a delightful discovery which begs to be repeated. With each successive casualty, mother monkey dutifully consults the doctor, and bandages the wounds. Finally, all five battle-weary monkey children are asleep, and mother can go to bed. Colored pencil drawings in soft pastels depict the totally silly but lovable monkey family and its doctor. This is a natural for younger story hours, and can also be used with beginning readers. Whether sublimely happy or ridiculously goofy, Christelow's expressive monkeys pack a lot of appeal. --Corinne Camarata, Port Washington Public Library, N.Y.

This eBook "Five Little Monkeys" was difficult reading. Words and pictures did not match. Grainy illustrations. Sorry I made this purchase. I enjoyed this book with my children and thought it would be equally wonderful on my NOOK, reading to my grandchildren. Again what a mistake. Can I return this book and receive a refund or NOOK credit towards another purchase?????? Didn't think so.

This is a poor quality ebook! The images are too small and they had to type in the words. It seems to be just a scan of the book and not one that was created to be an ebook. I wish I could get my money back. I wanted to view this book for a children's' library class and wasted my money. money I could not afford to waste. DO NOT PURCHASE THIS NOOK BOOK!

Five Little Monkeys Jumping On The Bed by Eileen Christelow They have to take a bath because it was bed time. They were jumping on the bed and one fell off. The mama said now I can go to bed after she put them all to bed with booboos on their heads. I like this book because it is funny. They were happy, silly, and funny. I would give this to the kids in my class. Trinity D. 9-22-11

My 3yr old loves this books!!!! He loves the part when the the doctor said "No more monkeys jumping on the bed". I love the way the author repeats the same scenario, it helps my son to do the countdown of the monkeys one by one as they fall off the bed. In the back is nice little treat with lots of stickers!

This book is a fun read because of the repetition. The author and illustrator took a common nursery rhyme and added great pictures with lots of details. I especially like the ice packs on the monkeys' heads. The artwork portrays the mother rolling her eyes and calling a doctor (who we assume is the daddy monkey). Finally, after all the monkeys fall off, get hurt, and are tucked back in bed, the Mom gets to jump on her own bed!! At least she does it in private. I think it's hilarious. Kids love seeing which monkeys are girls or boys and chanting the rhyme as you read it together.
