About the Author

I've lived a diverse life. My stratified career has taken me to such exotic places as India, the North Pole, Turkey, Greece, Thailand, Malaysia and the Philippines. My travels have afforded me chance meetings with lepers, drug lords and world adventurers. I grew up on the South Side of Chicago. As a young man I was known to disappear for weeks at a time, hitchhiking across the United States, Mexico or Canada. I worked my way through two high schools and five universities as a gas station attendant, elevator operator, hotel desk clerk, bridge painter, steelworker, canoe guide, newspaper editor, disc jockey, lumberjack and singer.
Moving to Hollywood in the mid-eighties, I starred in, directed or produced independent films as well as appearing on episodic television. My last few years in Hollywood, I worked in the studio system at Walt Disney Studios and CBS Television. I returned to Colorado, taught high school, sold cars and ran a book publishing company. Besides other books (Chasing God's River and The Glass Fence) I have several new novels and screenplays in the pipeline and continue to act and sing.

I like a book that gets my interest from the beginning. The Five Pearls was a great find and such great character development. I felt like I knew the main characters in the story right away. The tragic event at the end of one chapter was emotional and yet I had to put it down for another read. Didn't want to finish it too fast and have it all be over.
