During the 2000-2001 college basketball year, Mike Krzyzewski (Coach K) guided a very young and inexperienced Duke University team through a turbulent season filled with unexpected turns. Faced with everything from broken bones to humiliating losses, Coach K still managed to revamp his dispirited team and win the national championship. Five Point Play is the story behind the winning season -- the players, coaches, and motivational techniques utilized by Coach K, along with the players' feelings throughout this challenging time. Coach K proves that hard work, honesty, courage, and true teamwork can lead to the ultimate triumph.
With his record of back-to-back NCAA championships, seven Final Fours, and one of the most successful basketball programs in the nation, Coach Krzyzewski is easily one of the most respected and recognized figures in all of sports.

This book is a classic. Leaders of any kind should read this book, not only sports. This book reminds me of a quote:'Leadership is something you do with people not to them.' Not too much play by play,or technical sports talk.A good mix -in of direct quotes. Really inspiring.

This book isn't just about Duke's third national championship. It's about how an outstanding leader and teacher helped others to develop and mature. The book showed how a group of young men with enormous talents became a single unit that valued unselfishness and team work and showed a coach who valued his players more than just winning.

This extraordinary man with extraordinary talents has a gift which even surpasses his coaching abilities. The character and heart he instills in his players as decent human beings is a testament to his skill and caring and his goal to challenge and get the best from each player who wears Duke Blue, whether on or off the basketball court.

Coach K did another wonderful job of giving Duke fans a look at what happens behind the scenes. It is so interesting to read the details of the season from his perspective. He also has a lot of player reactions. I find it so interesting to read the details of the practices and team meetings and the coaching staff's responsiblities. This book is a great read for any coach who wants to learn from the best about the team concept. And it is a must have for any Duke fan!
