Editorial Reviews

Matthew Manarino
Five Pounds and Screaming follows characters Ben and Eliza as they adjust to lives as expecting parents. Throughout the book we view the young couple as they live day to day. We witness Ben and Eliza worry over living situations and we see them simply lounging around the house drawing and singing. With every minuscule detail that Williams presents us we are reminded again and again that this book is a labor of love, each page and panel is filled with the pure love...

The book doesn’t cover being a dad in the cliche ways that Eighties sitcoms typically did. His approach is fresh, original, charming, and warmly familiar.
One of the most memorable scenes in the book, for me, is when the protagonist brags to a supermarket cashier, “I’m a dad!” This stood out to me because I remember doing the same thing the first couple of weeks after Jack was born.

found myself nodding, "uh-huh"-ing and giggling all the way through as I recalled our own experiences when my husband and I were expecting our LO. It was also nice to find out that there are other people out there who have gone through some of the same things we did.
