This has been a go to favorite historical western romance read of mine for years. I have read this more times than I can count and I happened to do so this weekend. It's been a few years since my last reading and it was just as emotionally enthralling as the first time. Ashley Webster, a yankee school teacher from New York is looking for someone to pose as her husband to pacify a wagon train master, who will not let single females travel with his group without parents or a husband. Tanner MacTavish, a former soldier in the Confederate army, wouldn't seem to be the best candidate for the job, but due to certain circumstances these two end up married to each other. Read their story and be caught up in attempted murder, threatening natives, and a love story for the ages.
