Meet the Author

Francis Scott Key Fitzgerald (1896 –1940) is remembered for his novels and short stories that chronicled the Jazz Age. A member of the Lost Generation of the ‘20s, he is regarded as one of the greatest American writers of the 20th century.
Fitzgerald wrote five novels: This Side of Paradise, The Beautiful and the Damned, The Great Gatsby, Tender Is the Night, and The Love of the Last Tycoon (published posthumously).
Beginning in 1920, and continuing throughout the rest of his career, Fitzgerald supported himself by writing great numbers of short stories for popular publications such as The Saturday Evening Post and Esquire.
This short story collection titled Flappers and Philosophers is not so well known, although it contains the famous short story “Bernice Bobs Her Hair.” Some of the racial epithets in these stories are frowned today, but were common in his time.
