I really enjoyed this book. An accountant turned to an agent of the govenment sets off for rural Mexico looking for the lost and meets a strong hero who believes he's lost his soul looking for his brother's killer and body. Lots of action.

This is the first Dana Marton book I've read and will definitely be reading more of her books. I got very cranky whenever I was interrupted so can verify that the story and characters were engaging.

Enjoyed the plot and really liked Walker and Clara. Both characters had great personalities. Author did a great job developing characters and plot. One of the only problem I had was with all the mission/events that took place. They were extremely exciting but I'm not sure a DOD investigator or even a Navy Seal could survive them and they certainly would need more recovery time before the next major incident occurred. Walker kept trying to get Calara to go home so he exposed her to morbid and violent examples of human trafficking, decaying bodies etc. Be aware it is very graphic. It was very upsetting to me. Read the book and if it is accurate, over 100,000 people are kidnapped a year and treated worse than any animals I've ever heard about. Examples of people used in drug trafficking etc. The imagery should be used to let the world know of these conditions - if these accounts are entirely true. It left an impression with me that man can become totally evil and vicious in their dealings with others to make the all mighty dollar.

An awesome, action-riddled, romantic thriller set against Mexico's seamy drug cartel underworld. “Nothing woke up a man as quickly in the morning as a scorpion in his pants.” FLASH FIRE by Dana Marton is quite simply an awesome, action-riddled, romantic thriller. I originally fell in love with this author with her Broslin Creek romantic suspense series, so when I saw that she had a new book out, I knew I had to read it.; I was not disappointed in the least! This book is an adrenaline rush from the get-go. FLASH FIRE is mostly set in Mexico with a capable, tortured, extremely hot, ex-navy seal turned mercenary hero, and a straight-laced DOD Civilian Personnel Recovery Unit investigator as our heroine. She is on an off-the-books mission to recover a citizen who has disappeared under strange circumstances and favors have been called in to enlist Walker to serve as her facilitator on her mission. Add in South America's seamy underworld of competing drug cartels, espionage, familial issues and titillating suspense for a story that literally grabbed my attention from the first sentence - when the hero wakes to a scorpion in his pants - and never lets go. Some of the story takes place in the Mexican jungles, and it was questionable whether the couple would be taken down by the creepy-crawlies or the banditos. This was the story of Light Walker and Clara Roberts, two strong, compelling personalities with clashing value systems. To say that they were complete opposites is an understatement. Even so, their chemistry was evident from the start and their attraction simmered for much of the book. I've knocked my rating down 1/2 Wine Glass only because I would have like to have seen a bit more romance. However, to be fair to the book and the characters, neither were looking to hook up and there were a plethora of deadly life or death distractions that required their attention riveted elsewhere. Walker is on a quest for revenge when he agrees to act as her facilitator. He did not expect the investigator to be a young woman who operates with spreadsheets analyzing and detailing her every move. They each undergo a transformation as the story progresses that will leave the reader rooting for them despite the immense odds against them. Dana most definitely has a way with words. FLASH FIRE is a thrilling and complex romance with well-orchestrated suspense and mind-boggling twists with a plethora of spine-tingling sequences. I would highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys fast-paced, high-stakes, romantic suspense laced with danger at each turn. I guarantee it will keep you on the edge of your seat. 4 1/2 Wine Glasses!

I loved everything about Flash Fire! Light Walker is an ex-SEAL turned mercenary trying to avenge his brother's death. Clara Roberts is in Mexico trying to find a missing American teenager. Walker is the facilitator that is supposed to help her with her off-the-books investigation. Trouble starts from the moment they meet and Clara finds herself in some very dangerous situations. There is nonstop action and lots of surprises. I highly recommend this book!! **I received a copy in exchange for an honest review**

Flash Fire is a fabulous story packed with heart stopping suspense, blood pumping action with the perfect amount of mystery and romance that kept me flipping those pages just as fast as I possible could. Clara Roberts is on a mission for the Civilian Personnel Recovery unit when she receives a call for another mission in a dangerous area. She accepts the mission with a few reservations and some really mixed up feelings. Light Walker has suffered major losses in his life. He's been trained to take care of problems with any means possible. He is on a mission of his own in the same dangerous territory that Clara is headed into. Light Walker has the skills the military trained him to use and the street or should I say jungle smarts he's mastered. The first meeting between Clara and Light is the start of one really rocky relationship. They are both fiercely independent and use to working on their own. Their strong personalities clash instantly. Their squabbles are interesting with a touch of humor and a nice attraction that they are trying so hard to fight. The action in this story has been well written and made my heart miss a beat or two while I was completely engrossed in Clara and Light's story. The mysteries that they uncover bit by bit are intriguing and make for a very dramatic read. Overall I thoroughly enjoyed reading Flash Fire. I bonded with the characters quickly, became completely invested in the searches and battles they fought through, and the drama that was revealed with each twist. Dana Marton has once again written a wonderful romantic suspense story that kept me submerged in the story for the first page all the way to the end. This is the second book in the Civilian Personnel Recovery Unit series but will stand alone just fine. Ms. Marton has created each story with such detail that you will not feel as though you are missing any pertinent details to disrupt your joy of reading Flash Fire. Dana Marton is one of those authors that I impatiently await their next release. She does a fabulous job of writing a story that keeps me engrossed with characters that unique traits that make them so much fun to read about. I was given the opportunity to read Flash Fire so that I may share my thoughts with you. As always it has been my great pleasure to share my thoughts with you on Flash Fire.

I received a copy of this book from the Author for an honest review. Let’s start off by saying. This book is a must read. I really enjoyed this book and could not put it down when I started it. I finished it in one sitting. I loved the characters in this book. Walker is a former Navy Seal (well not really since once a seal always a seal) but the book starts out with him in the jungle. Right away he has you hooked. I loved finding out about him. Clara is part of the DOD and of to Mexico to find a missing girl. Walker is her helper while she is there. This story is action packed from beginning to end. It is a great story. I hope we get to see more of them one day. One hot sexy story a must read. Loved it!!!

All I can say is WOW!!! This book is filled with intrigue, heartbreaks, suspense, a Fallen Angel, a straight laced, female government agent, corruption, action, and a look at the drug cartels in Mexico. Our leading characters, Light Walker, and Clara would never had met, if her father, a General, had not asked her to find and retrieve a young woman in Mexico off the records, and sent her to Walker for help. There is more to the story, but for that, you need to read this extraordinary book. Prepare yourself for a bumpy ride!

4.25 stars--FLASH FIRE is the second installment in Dana Marton’s contemporary, adult Civilian Personnel Rescue Unit romantic suspense series, and the first in her new Navy Seal Romance Series. This is DOD agent Clara Roberts, and ex-SEAL/mercenary Light Walker’s storyline. FLASH FIRE can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Told from dual third person points of view (Clara and Walker) FLASH FIRE focuses on the rescue of a missing American teenager in Mexico. Clara is an agent with the US Department of Defense and her specialty is extraction and retrieval of American citizens. A call from her father, a former General in the US army, finds our heroine in Mexico searching for the niece of the family’s new housekeeper, who has been missing for several days. Enter Light Walker, the man with whom Clara is to facilitate the extraction, and a man who is on a personal mission of his own. What ensues is a cross country journey through the drug and guerilla infested cities and jungles of Mexico looking for a woman who perhaps does not want to be found. FLASH FIRE is an action packed, story of mystery and suspense wherein our leading couple must traverse a minefield of sadistic killers, warring drug cartels, corrupt Mexican and American officials, human trafficking rings, and gun runners. Clara is strong heroine who has seen her share of atrocities with the DOD; Light Walker is a man on a suicide mission to avenge the death of his brother, and wants nothing to do with Clara Roberts and her need to retrieve a missing teen who is probably no longer alive The relationship between Clara and Walker is acrimonious. The sexual tension is high although Walker views Clara as more of a hindrance to his own mission, rather than his latest ‘assignment’. Walker is a mercenary for higher but a man who is determined to destroy the people who took away the only family he had. The lone, hilarious $ex scene is limited to the final few pages as Clara and Walker try to be quiet in the General’ s house at Christmas. FLASH FIRE is an engaging and entertaining storyline with scenes of graphic violence, murder and sexual assault; the premise is dramatic, intense and powerful; the characters are intriguing and dynamic. Marton’s writing pulls the reader into the humidity filled jungles of Mexico where the flora and fauna are as dangerous as the drug runners and Mexican Cartels. FLASH FIRE will captivate you imagination with its’ timely topics ripped from the today’s headlines and the war against drugs.

A thrilling, spine-tingling, romantic adventure! Dana Marton writes the best kind of romantic suspense. Her stories contain complex characters with lots of action and Flash Fire is no exception. Clara Roberts is tasked by her father to find a missing young woman. Light Walker is a former SEAL who now works for others to further his own quest: find his brothers killer. Light is supposed to help Clara find her missing person but his own agenda keeps getting in the way. He feels he is beyond redemption and fights his attraction to Clara. Clara likes who she is but doesn’t feel that she is really attractive to men. She is not the type that Light usually goes for but he admires her tenaciousness and finds himself falling for her. Clara is horrified by some of the things she witnesses Light do but gradually comes to understand why he is the way he is. This story has many twists and turns and thoroughly captivated me; once I started reading it I couldn’t put it down. Bravo to Dana Marton for another excellent, suspenseful story. I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Light Walker is an ex-SEAL who has spent the last two years working in the seamy drug underworld of Mexico in an attempt to avenge his brother's murder. Clara Roberts is a DOD investigator who works at locating missing American citizens in foreign locations and returning them or their remains back to the United States. When her father, head of her department, asks her to locate a missing teen in Mexico and keep the investigation confidential, he also arranges for her to meet with Walker to facilitate her search. But will Walker's quest for revenge interfere with her job and what is she to make with her unexpected and unasked for attraction to this mercenary. This was an action packed story from the opening scene of Walker waking to the realization that a live scorpion was crawling in his pants to his and Clara's headlong rush through the jungle to escape the Mexican rebels out for their blood. A great read with a touch of romance, a strong and independent female character, and a promise of redemption that can bring an obsessed man back from the brink. Disclosure: I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Wow! Just Wow! It starts off with a bang and doesn't let up until the very end. No stopping points in this one. Lots of action, adventure, and tension. Will they survive? Will they succumb? Will they complete their missions ? Read this one but have water and snacks nearby because you won't want to take a break just to eat...or sleep.
