Agency computer specialist Tess Bailey helps field agent Jimmy Nash expedite his partner Lawrence Decker from a potentially deadly scene. That night Jimmy and Tess make love, but he leaves for Mexico without looking back. Not long afterward, Jimmy and Deck quit the Agency and when Tess learns she will not get a field job, she leaves too.
Tom Paolitti of Troubleshooters, Inc (see Out Of Control and Gone Too Far) hires Deck and Jimmy. He assigns Deck as the lead with Jimmy and three other people to go into Kazbekistan to retrieve the laptop of a reportedly dead terrorist Sayid. K-Stan has been closed to the West and is the most dangerous pit around, but an earthquake has devastated the capital and western relief workers are in country giving the team needed cover. However, a computer specialist is needed badly and Tess is the only available one. Because of circumstances, Tess and Jimmy are to pose as newlyweds. Since the attraction is great that should look realistic though Jimmy fears his feelings. As the danger mounts, the love between Tess and Jimmy blossoms, but he believes he is not good enough for her.
FLASHPOINT builds up the suspense slowly but grips the reader from start to finish. The key to the tale is that the ¿good guys¿ contain distinct characteristics so that the audience can delineate them. The earthquake scenario is realistic (Iran proves that). Though the hero insists too often that he is a bad guy in spite of his actions of doing nice things for innocent people, fans will enjoy this taut tale and hopefully Ms. Brockmann will follow with a romance between Deck and the woman he rescued.

I consider this the start of Act II for this series because Tess, Nash, and Deck weren't in the previous stories and we also meet key players in future books: Dave, Sophia, and Vingh.
----
I've been reading the books order (after I accidently read #13 and #14 first) and I didn't like how this book felt like it skipped something. If you read the other books, they're very connected. The series usually starts where the last book left off, but this one didn't. I honestly thought I skipped a book because this one didn't flow with the others.
----
This was a average book but I know that the events that took place in this book will have consequences in the next books, so I'm gonna to read it. I'm looking forward to Act II of the Troubleshooter Series!

My favorite in this series! Jimmy and Tess are both such strong and well developed characters that I couldn't help but fall in love with their story. Tess I found stubborn, intelligent, and brave. Jimmy I loved for his total kick'butt' skills, loyalty, and possive nature - with a complicated and total inability to commit. I thought they were perfect for eachother.
I have enjoyed all of the Troubleshooter series but sometimes Brockmann has too many stories/plots at a time and I end up skimming pages - not this time. If you like books with a military hero, you can't go wrong here!

I've just discovered Suzanne Brockmann in the last 3 weeks or so and have thoroughly been enjoying the Troubleshooters series. This is the first of her titles I've listened to on CD. I enjoyed the story itself. However, I was very disappointed with the narrators. Patrick's accents and tone of voices changed for individual characters throughout the book (Paoletti started the book w/ a New England accent but ended with a Southern). Melanie sounded bored throughout most of the book. In addition to those disappointments, having two different readers for the same characters throws off the images normally gained in a great story.

I Love every single book from this author...There are all great, I'm just surprised that she didn't do much with Decker...I love him...Mrs. Brockman has to do a book about him and Sophia...and it will be great as all her books! Go for it! You will enjoy ever stupidity of Nash.

I have to say that I am an avid Suzanne Brockmann fan. I rush out to buy everything that she writes. However, after rushing out to buy Flashpoint, I was a bit let down. I don't think it had the zing that her previous books have (many of which I have read twice). Nash did not have the character depth that all of her previous heroes have had. I was more interested in Decker and hope that he gets a book of his own. Sorry, Suzanne but this wasn't the best!

Ms. Brockmann has done it again. Flashpoint is absolutely wonderful. The story of Tess and Jimmy is one of nail bitting suspense. The sub plots are pretty doggone neat too. Now I can't wait to see how Deck's life develops. I finished reading Flashpoint in record time because I could not put the book down. All of Ms. Brockmann's books relating to the Navy SEALs and Troubleshooters Inc. are excellent reads including Gone Too Far, her previous best sellier. Of course Flashpoint concluded, sort of. The story ended with me wanting to know what will continue to happen in Tess and Jimmy's life, just like Gone Too Far left me wanting to know what's going to happen in Alyssa and Sam's life, the main characters is Gone Too Far. So, at the end of Flashpoint, Ms. Brockmann aiming to please her readers, gives us another peek into Alyssa and Sam's life. What an amazing author. Ms. Brockmann knows how to keep her readers satisfied and happy.

There are few authors books I buy in hardcover, because I can usually wait for the paperback version. Suzanne's books about the Seals will keep you reading all night. They make you laugh, cry and in the end wishing for more. I read this book without stopping for anything except to eat. Another winner.

I have read and enjoyed all Suzanne Brockmann's novels regarding the Navy Seals and look forward to the next one. However, I was terribly disappointed with this one - actually I was bored! The characters had no depth, except for Decker. Hopefully, this is just a lapse in an otherwise excellent series.

Flashpoint by Suzanne Brockmann is another blockbuster hit. Tess Bailey, computer geek wants out of the support dept in the worst way. She wants to be a field agent. When she is denied again, Tess quits and goes looking for work with Troubleshooters, Inc., legendary Tom Paoletti. She wasn¿t prepared to see her one night stand, Agent Jimmy ¿Diego¿ Nash. Tess and Jimmy had been skirting around an attraction for months. Then after a mission they had a blazing night together. Jimmy Nash had enough of the agency and went with his friend Lawrence Decker to work with Tom Paoletti. Now Tess is on their team for a mission to a dangerous foreign country. They are posing as a married couple and the lines between reality and make believe are becoming blurred. Suzanne Brockmann delivers the action, suspense and the passion. You feel like you are there watching it all unfold. Jimmy and Tess will stay with you for a long time.
