BAD AND UNHEALTHY AND TONS OF PROCESSED FOODS

Another fad diet to get your money. I bought the book for my mom after a co-worker told me it is easy to read since she is her 70s. I am a pharmacist and studied nutrition. To tell readers to eat processed foods is a dangerous advice from Prevention magazine. The types of foods they recommend are dangerous such as margarine and commercial cereals. I think there are better diets out there with the right information and with nothing processed. I made a mistake.

Warning about the eBook... it's unusable when you get to the snack pack and recipe sections which are authored in a table format that does not convert properly for the eBook. I'm still trying to get my money back.

    You can eat chocolate!

As a woman about to turn 50, I've essentially been on some kind of "diet" since puberty reared its body-changing head. Having struggled with my weight since I first recognized that society expected me to, I've purchased almost as many diet books as I have pairs of shoes. That being said, if you want an eating plan that easily fits into the way most people want to eat, this is the book. The Flat-Belly Diet is not really a diet, but a change in how you view your relationship with food and how to eat healthily and well without feeling deprived. The idea of four or five small meals per day, each eaten with a MUFA (monounsaturated fatty acid), has completely changed the way I put my meals together over the course of a day. The four-day "jump start" is made for women who are smaller in stature than I am (5'10"), but the rest of the plan is easy to follow, satisfying, and creates meals that even my non-dieting husband loves. There are tips about how to eat during holidays, parties, in restaurants (including fast-food) that show you how easily you can stick to a "diet" while still enjoying the social aspects of eating and drinking. The exercise plan is pretty fun and includes a lot of walking, (an activity that most of us can find ways to incorporate into our day without much effort) and toning with light weights (which can be done at home). No trips to the gym, no eating only kiwi fruit while standing on your head, just sensible delicious food and reasonable exercise that will help anyone feel healthier and more energetic while losing weight. Drink the Sassy Water too...it's the best!

Buy the Flat belly diet today and you will get heart disease

I got carried away during the holidays and went to buy the Flat Belly diet. What a waste of money! The book is very disorganized, reads poorly, and includes fake foods. The foreword is by Oprah's magazine doctor, Dr. David Katz, who is a chairman of the nutrition department at Yale. This could give you reaasurance, but no, he is a total idiot. I got sucked into buying one of his books 3 years ago, the Flavor Point diet and he recommends margarine. Hasn't he heard about trans fats? I did, and I' m not a doctor. Anyway, back to the Flat Belly diet, they also recommend margarine, and fake foods. Thanks, I need to improve my health, not damage it and get a heart attack. It is a scam diet, stay away.

    Incredible Book!

This is by far, one of the best books I have read in years. Informative, interesting and hard to put down. Liz did a great job sharing her wealth of knowledge with the reader. I am on my way to a very flat belly and new way of nourishing my body, mind and spirit!

This diet is based on sound scientific study

I just finished reading this book from cover to cover, twice, and I'm really curious as to why there are reviews on this website stating that this book advocates the use of "fake foods", such as margerine. Nothing could be farther from the truth, and it simply is NOT in this diet book. The whole premise is about using monounsaturated fatty acids, such as olive oil, nuts, seeds, avocado, etc. with each meal. Meals made up of whole foods, such as vegetables, fruits, lean protein, and whole grains. Sure, there's fat free milk and fat free yogurt, but not "fake foods"! So, for those of you reading those other reviews, take'em with a grain of salt. I think they're either reading comprehension challenged, or they're reviewing the wrong book!

    Great way to loss weight

I have been trying to get those pounds off for months, hell years and this was the first successful diet I can say that has been making those lbs just melt off. It is more of a lifestyle change instead of a "diet."

A Great Way to Lose Pounds and Inches

I am a woman in her 40's and all of a sudden weight just appeared. I have tried quite a few diets, and with these irrational hormones flowing through my body, I couldn't lose a pound. I met a woman in the bookstore, she saw me glancing at different diet book, ready to try anything and she recommended the Flat Belly Diet. I am extremely happy that she did so. After the 28 day diet plan, I lost ten pounds. I am finally beginning to look the way I did in my 30's. Hallelujah!! If you need to lose weight, buy this book today. You will see results.

Just completed the first 4 days, the anti-bloat diet portion. It was easy to understand and to accomplish. I am not a cook, so I avoid too much food prep, but found this doable. I used and appreciated the shopping list, and was delighted to actually eat what I bought. In the first 4 days, I've lost 10 lbs. The best result was that my husband joined in and with the help of the other book, "Flat Belly Diet for Men", he has lost 12 lbs. in 4 days. Since he started at more than 320, anything that holds his interest that is healthy is a great diet. We are now ready to start the 28-day phase. We will be going on vacation during that period, and plan to use the restaurant strategies. This is not the only health/diet plan we've encountered, however, it was recommended to me when I needed to hear about it and I was ready to take a fresh start again. I can also recommend the pocket guide companion book to carry around with you (not as a replacement for the main book but as an addendum). Like any self-improvement topic, dieting only works if you work at it and are ready to concentrate on doing a better job of body care. Maybe some of the other reviewers just weren't primed for the commitment.

    The book is great

Do not download this book on your nook because you cannot read the entire recipes. About 90% of the page shows the rest you cannot see due to the size of the screen. I went to the B&N store and they did nothing.

Not a great book for the Nook

a lot of "?" in the text where a "?" doesn't belong, lists are difficult to read because they are cut off.

I bought the book for my Daughter. She loves it and is very inspired to begin the diet recommendations. It seems to have included everything she needed to get motivated. Thank you.

    Awesome Program

I have just started but already feel better. The food allowed is endless and varied. This program was easy to start but I am having some trouble finding food items recommended. I am substituting based on the principles of the book watching sugar and salt mainly. I highly recommend people try this if they have failed with other diets. This is really a life style change.
