You saw Matt through Julie's eyes in FLAT-OUT LOVE. Now go deeper into Matt's world in this FLAT-OUT MATT novella. Live his side of the story, break when his heart breaks, and fall for the unlikely hero all over again.

Take an emotional skydive for two prequel chapters and seven FLAT-OUT LOVE chapters retold from his perspective, and then land with a brand-new steamy finale chapter from Julie.

Author's Note: Two chapters, The Sleepover and Keep Going, contain more mature content than Flat-Out Love (Keep Going, in particular), and were written based on reader demand. They wouldn't have fit in well with the original Flat-Out Love, but given that this is a fan-driven companion piece, I think they work. While the content here is upped at bit, the scenes are tastefully done. (So, you know sorry to those who wanted lewd and graphic.)

Jessica Park is one great writer. And spunky. Tough. Passionate. You won't be disappointed with this book. A great follow up from her first book. Thanking my friend, Michael John Sullivan for recommending me this author.

This short but sweet book was the perfect addition to Flat-Out Love. Getting inside Matt’s head and seeing pivotal scenes from his point of view connected me to him in unexpected ways. I began to understand the confusing things he said and did around Julie. Pieces of their journey suddenly became so clear. I could see how the messed up relationship he was forging with Julie got so out of hand, bringing the whirlwind of emotions that would follow.  The best part of this book for me was the beginning. The scenes from Matt’s past were extremely meaningful to the overall story. The lies regarding Finn no longer felt insane, but instead wore the heaviness of incredible grief and the desperate need to hold on to something.  It also helped me realize how much Matt has changed since then.  With Flat-Out Matt, Jessica Park has flawlessly placed the missing pieces of Matt and Julie’s story to create a journey that is both emotionally crushing and full of insurmountable hope. Their heartache, joy and the inimitable bonds they built will undoubtedly stay with me. Jessica has written a brilliant story full of unique and unforgettable characters.

This was a great companion novel for Flat Out Love, and I really loved seeing things from Matt's point of view. This book really explains a lot about Matt's personal struggles and you get really great insight into Matt's fun personality. It does have bonus scenes that you don't get with Flat Out Love. I really enjoyed this story

Flat-Out Matt is the companion novel to the best book ever, Flat-Out Love. It’s not a linear retelling of the story; it’s a few prequel chapters and a few of the chapters from Flat-Out Love, all told from Matt’s point of view. And though we are already familiar with the duplicate chapters, nothing feels repetitive because Matt sees things from a very different perspective than Julie. Most of the characters from Flat-Out Love are back, and we even get to meet the elusive Finn. That part was sad, knowing what was coming, but it was nice to see the brother everyone was lost without. We learn more about Matt’s parents and their part in the Flat Finn fiasco, and we learn that Celeste was actually a pretty average kid before the events in Flat-Out Love. But most of all, we see the journey Matt took from being the brother in the shadows to the one who has to keep the family together, and all that cost him. The writing was perfect, and you’d never know the books were written almost 2 years apart. It was just like stepping right back into that world. The same snarky dialogue was there and I still loved it. Unlike the first book, though, this one has sexy scenes. This was definitely not a book for the younger set. But don’t worry, the sex doesn’t replace the romance. There’s even more of that. *Swoon*. I didn’t think it was possible, but I love Matt even more now than I did in the first book. I need a Matt in my life. Seriously. It’s been almost 2 months since I last marked a book as swoon-worthy and even longer since I declared a book a must read, but Flat-Out Matt is both. Read Flat-Out Love, then jump right into this one. You’ll thank me, I promise. The sum up: The perfect companion novel.

This went along so nicely with "Flat-Out Love." It was wonderful being able to see things from Matt's point of view. This was a very quick read, and I definitely recommend it if you've read "Flat-Out Love."

The only thing that I don't like about this piece is that the summary contains spoilers for Flat Out Love, which is probably my favorite e-book ever and it makes me sad to think of somebody else missing out on experiencing its twists and turns in the same way. :(  That said, I really enjoyed Flat Out Matt. It was great to read Matt's side of things and spend a little more time with these characters who I adore.

I was pretty floored when i found out the twist in book 1. It was really amazing to view from the hero point. He is not truly crazy as was my first thought but a player in a game oflies. If you enjoyed flat out love then you will love this version of favorite fhapters redone through matty eyes.

I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review. My expectations were exceeded! This was a great companion novella to “Flat-Out Love.” It was awesome being able to experience the story from Matt’s point of view. There were so many times during “Flat-Out Love” that I wish I knew his thoughts. Jessica Park made that possible with this 5 STAR novella “Flat-Out Matt.”  I fell in love with Matty when I first met him in the beginning of “Flat-Out Love.” Regardless of his mistakes, I still think he is genuinely a great guy. He has a huge heart with so much love to give, but unfortunately his romantic life has been on hold for too long. Matt always puts everyone else before him. So when his parents were too out of it to take care of the family, Matt did. He was pretty much Celeste’s parent. When Julie Seagle came into his life, she helped ease his responsibilities just slightly. Celeste and Julie got along real well and had fun together, which just added even more to Julie’s appeal. Matt really likes Julie, and Julie likes Matt. Except, Julie likes Matt’s older brother Finn more. She’s falling for Finn, and Finn’s falling for her. What Julie doesn’t know, is that Matt is the one who is really talking to her on Facebook...not Finn. It wasn’t Matt’s intention to let things go as far as they did, he meant to tell her the truth. But, he was in too deep. Join Matt in his side of the story in “Flat-Out Matt.” Whether or not you liked him in “Flat-Out Love” (I loved him!) you can’t help but feel for him in this companion novella. He’s human, and human’s make mistakes. The pretending to be Finn all started for his little sister’s sake anyway. Even though he knew it was wrong, he did it for her happiness. I personally think that took a lot of strength for Matt to do.  I enjoyed the bonus chapters the most in this book. Of course, I really liked seeing Matt’s point of view on scenes that happened during “Flat-Out Love” too. It was neat to see Julie and everything else through his eyes. But, being able to see Matt and Finn interact together before all hell broke loose in the Watkins’ house was magical. It was great seeing Matt so carefree and young, and I loved being able to meet Finn.  For people who have read “Flat-Out Love,” I highly recommend reading this novella “Flat-Out Matt” by Jessica Park. If you loved the first book, you won’t be disappointed with this companion novella. As I said, regardless of your feelings about Matt, you can’t help but feel for him in this book. Seeing everything through his eyes makes you see how vulnerable he really is behind his calm exterior. Read this 5 STAR novella now! Thanks for writing this book Jessica Park!
