Overview

Lawson Kerry, has spent the last fourteen years dealing with the repercussions of a one-night stand that left her pregnant and alone. Now 30, Lawson's newfound happiness is threatened when her child's biological father re-enters her life, determined to stake his claim. With God and her friends by her side, Lawson gears up for the battle of her life.

Sullivan Webb is smart, beautiful, and married to one of Savannah's most influential pastors and politicians. Everything changes when she crosses paths with a sexy and passionate young artist who offers her all of the excitement that she lacks.

Kina Battle has a heart as big as her appetite, but her struggle with weight pales in comparison with the constant strife she faces at home with former football standout and abusive husband, E'Bell. He blames his marriage for his failed football career, and he is determined to make her suffer for it.

Angelique "Angel" King copes with the death of her child and the loss of her marriage by devoting herself to the lives of her patients. When she takes on a terminally ill cancer patient, her world is rocked when she learns the true identity of the woman.

Reginell "Reggie" Kerry is Lawson's baby sister and the youngest of the crew. Blessed with an angelic singing voice, Reggie is determined to make it big in the music industry. Her misguided ambition makes her an easy target for an unscrupulous club owner, and she soon finds herself caught in a world that becomes nearly impossible for her to walk away from.

    Great read

This was a great book. It reminded me of some of my own trials that with God's help I was able to overcome.

I will definitely read more books written by this author.

    Great Book

    Dear Shana,
I read Flaws and All in three days. It was so full of love triangles and suspenses, I couldn't wait to see what happen to each one of the ladies. I also admired their faith and loyal friendship. You are an awesome writer.

    Secrets

Lawson is a single mom. She's managed to finish college and is now working as a teacher. Life finally seems to be getting on track as her long-time boyfriend has just proposed. That is until she comes across a secret she's been hiding for 14 years.
Sullivan Webb is the desperate housewife of a minister with political aspirations. When she's not shopping, drinking or dishing with the girls, she's feeling empty. A trip to the mechanic, and Sully has a new lease on life.

Angel King, a compassionate nurse, is still bitter nine years later. Her husband left her for the other woman and as a result she miscarried. Still harboring all of those feelings, Angel has never loved or given herself a chance to love again. When she finally comes face to face with the other woman, forgiveness is not on her tongue.

Kina Battle married her high school sweetheart. Their life has been anything but a fairytale as he's been blaming Kina and their son for his loss of greatness on the football field. Mentally and physically abused, Kina is no longer able to hide the scars and fears what may happen next.

`Flaws And All' by Shana Burton tells the story of friends and family who are forced to learn to forgive, trust and lean on their faith. Though it may seem simple enough, the ladies each find themselves struggling for a solution.

A good message, but the situations were predictable. I did enjoy that Shana Burton addressed illiteracy, something that is rarely publicized. I would've enjoyed if Reginell's story had its own voice instead of tidbits.

Review by Sisterhood Book Club...Trust and Believe

When I received this book from the author I was very ready, set, go.This book became my side kick that brought five characters that became my friends. You have Lawson, Reginell, Sullivan, Angel and Kina. The divas of all times, that takes you into their personal lives of happiness, sad and hope all in one. The title Flaws and All fits the story to perfectly up until the end. All the characters do have flaws along with all other things going on in their lives. I bring to you Urban Christian that left me with a twist and turn of a roller coaster of a different kind.

After a one night stand at a young age, Lawson Kerry decides to have a baby and raise it on her own by choice. All through the book Lawson is a self centered, right justice and can't see her wrongness kind of person. A man name Garrett that is a genuine, patient and down to earth has help her along the way as her boyfriend that has ask her over and over as the years pass to marry him. But for some strange reason Lawson keeps pulling away and refusing to marry Garrett. Oh, but something is hanging in the darkness for Lawson that is going to bit her in the butt and break her down.

Sullivan is not your average first lady that totes the bible around with her and saves lives standing next to her husband twenty four seven. The first lady Sullivan Webb is a hot mess that has an itch that takes her out of her husband Charles arms. The sex wasn't good for Sullivan anymore instead of telling her husband. She finds herself in the world of lust and adultery with a young tender roni in the middle of Charles campaign that destroy the love that brought them together. Will their marriage stand up to the betrayal?

After reading about this character Angel King I believe in bad luck, from day one her marriage didn't work out and because of the stress she has a miscarriage that leaves her in her own little world as a bitter lady. As her job takes her out to different patient houses to comfort them in their last days of happiness. Lord and behold a trap is set for her by the women that stole her husband in the mist of it all. But Angel can't see the help that's needed because of all the hurt and hate she has for the two that destroyed her life. Will she have a change of heart?

You hear about verbal and physical abuse every day, but it's something else when you read about it. Kina Battle had a life of pain that no women should have to adore under any conditions. Kina is a go getter that married a sorry man that didn't deserve the air he woke up to everyday and breath. Their son was conceived while in high school and all the plans the two of them had went down the drain. All the time Kina was blaming herself and taking the blame for all that had happen by taking the beatings by the hands of her husband. For years she was in the dark of blame but the light shined in and the tragic day came for all. Can Kina turn the hands of time and save her husband?

Compare to all the characters this one person Reginell Kerry didn't stand out at all, she was more of the ones that put into the story as Lawson sister and very under developed. The story started out with her determination to be a singer; at times she would just popup and is arguing back and forth with the divas. They was always on her about not living right but I didn't catch her personality or exactly who herself stood for, I only know her as Lawson little sister.

    Flaws And All review

I recently had the chance to review the book "Flaws And All", by Shana Burton. It's a story about five girlfriends and the lives they live behind the scenes. The book starts out at a birthday party and ends up spending lots of time around the kitchen table. The women each face tough challenges of their own, but undying there friendship with one another helps them make it through.

REAL LIFE ISSUES AND EXTRAORDINARY WOMEN

FLAWS AND ALL, is a masterpiece that is about four spectacular women who are great friends who deal with real life issues and they continue to uplift each other, even in parts of their lives where they are dealt a bad hand, but they push their issues aside and have each other to lean on to get them through these tumultous times. The ladies names are Lawson Kerry who is a teacher and she deals with an ex coming back into she and her child's life, which begins off rough, but ends up being a blessing to her and their child's life. Kina is another character who is dealing with an abusive husband and in the end she gets out of that abusive relationship, but a death occurs to her husband on her son's Kenny's hands. Angel, who is a nurse is another character in the book, who has to overcome hate in her heart and focus on her patient who ends up being her ex husband's wife, she learns about forgiveness and pushes her differences aside to help her ex husband and his wife overcome a terminal illness. She is my favorite character because I can relate to her in more ways than one, because I've been there before with an ex, not much so in the same way, but learning how to forgive after someone who was once your everything has hurt you and left you full of hate and emotionally dead, you would have to be a very strong person which I am, and Angel who portrayed a strong character in this book. Sullivan who is Charle's wife who is a preacher, her selfish acts leaves her looking like the tramp of the town, she ends up cheating on her husband with a younger man, who she met in a car repair shop, who ends up not being who she thought he was, but she realizes in the end after a scandal which leaves her husband receding the race that what she has at home is far better than she ever could imagine, but she had to sew her wild oats to see it for herself. Reginell, who is Lawson's younger sister, has her own issues with jealousy for her sister and tries everything in her power to make her sister realize that she is just as good as she is, but in the end she finds out that her dancing at a local adult entertainment business is not what she should be doing as a career. She has found the love of her life at the end, who turns out to be the one she has always wanted and needed in her life. All of the women have overcome obstacles in their lives, but one constant in their lives that they share is "true friendship". This book will make you cry, laugh and think long and hard before making inappropriate decisions in your own life. Everyone should get this book, it's great!!! It will leave you speechless!! Keep up the great work, Author of the Year, Miss. Shana Burton!!! :)

    Your #1 Fan, ChiQuita
