I am now a huge fan of Alyssa Rose Ivy!!! I couldn't say a bad thing about this book:) I read it from beginning to end in one sitting and loved it so much!
I really enjoyed the characters in this story. They were so diverse, yet meshed so well together. Levi was the perfect bad boy and Jess was so boy crazy. Allie had sworn off boys, but Levi wouldn't take no for an answer.
I am chomping at the bit to get to read the sequel, Focus that will be out early 2013. I am also going to go right out and check out Alyssa Rose Ivy's other series and any other books of hers I can get my hands on!
This review is short and sweet because I really don't have anything to say other than this book rocked my socks off! I recommend it to New Adults and older YA. This book deserves five glittery stars since it is so amazing and all:)

and pursues relentlessly, chipping at girl's walls. Oh Levi, you are so
arrogant. Good looking and you know it. Strutting your stuff; showing
off those pecs, handsome face, and those wings. I mean, who could resist
a good, strong pair of wings? But eventually the lure is too much for
girl, and she gives in to the sparks. (She couldn't resist. I don't
blame her.) As stubborn as Allie is and as self controlled as she
thinks she is, the pull towards Levi is too strong. And the allure of
this other world she is introduced to... how can a girl say no to that?
But Allie definitely bit off more than she can chew.... or did Levi?
Typical YA novel, but with a very interesting plot with supernatural
creatures that are quite original from what I have read. Though I wanted
a lot more information on the Pterons, seeing as this is the first of a
series, I am sure my thirst for more knowledge will be satisfied in
upcoming novels (I hope). Alyssa Rose Ivy introduces some very
interesting and colorful characters, who are full bodied and believable.
You find yourself immersed in intrigue and drama that may be all too
familiar when reminiscing of youthful (or adult!) mistakes or impulses,
combined with great action and the magic of the paranormal element of
the story line. The story being located in New Orleans held a little
magic all of its own. New Orleans is bewitching to me, and the writer
did a great job of writing in enough elements to always remind you where
these characters are. Some of the locations described, even the food,
drink and music in the background made the story even more spellbinding
and intriguing. There wasn't one dull moment in this novel, from start
to finish. It kept my interest completely throughout. It ended quite
abruptly, which led me to scratch my head in confusion, confirm the
word/page count, and then wallow in the feeling of disappointment that
it was, indeed, finished.... for now! Needless to say I look forward to
the second installment of the series with much anticipation.

Flight was thrilling, unpredictable, radiating with tension of all kinds, and that includes a romance that I cannot wait to read more about in the next book. I really enjoyed reading this story from Allie's POV; you really understand her background, why she moved to New Orleans for the summer, before her first year at Princeton. You also get a sense of her feisty like personality, and it definitely draws a hot college senior, Levi. He, was...extremely WELL Written!! I really like him, and he's definitely a ladies man, but for some reason, Allie has caught his eye, and he's actually pretty persistent to wanting to be with her, even though he practically gets turned down by Allie on a few occasions. Yes, this is a very interesting Romance, and I believe the cover gives a good indication for how their steamy like scenes are like! You just got to read on your own and find out where! So...there's definitely an undeniable romance but...there's a fantasy element to this story, and Levi introduces Allie to something supernatural, of which she never knew could exist, but just how far can she go before turning the other way, and possibly turning from Levi?
I just want to start out and say this is absolutely a wonderful New Adult Novel. It's a perfect story for this genre. There is the sense of independence, learning/making mistakes and a whole lot more that contributes to this great genre. I feel that the writing was purely excellent including the scenes, dialogue, and the setting as you just get a feel of what New Orleans is like, and what happens there on a daily basis, and that is one city I would definitely love to visit! This is my first time reading Ivy's work, and I now just can't wait to read more of her awesome stories, as she is a wonderful writer, and storyteller! All in all, this was an addictive read and I really can't wait to read the next book in the Chronicles, because, ahh you'll see when you read it; you're just going to want to read more, after you read the last page!

There I got that out. This was such addicting YA book. Although it lays on the line of older YA but clean enough to keep the YA title. The story idea alone was so creative that it kept me intrigued. I wished we could have learned a bit more about the species and a little less of Allie's man troubles. That is why I gave it a 4 instead of 5 Stars. I get that Allie had it rough in previous relationship but her man hating attitude got to be tiring after a while. I liked that Allie played a feisty role, but too bad her side kick Jess didn't stick around longer. Levi is a definite drool worthy character worth following around like a puppy dog. The support characters were entertaining and had an appeal to them that kept your interest. The descriptions of the paranormal creatures were good and the relationships between the different species was interesting. I anxiously await the next book Focus.

I almost didn't bother finishing this book. Some if it was too unbelievable and happened too fast. SPOILER ALERT!!!!! Allie was not the strong female lead i was hoping for and the romance between her and Levi in the first few chapters wasn't there. I kept thinking she would go for Owen. Then this jerk (Levi) tells you he is a crow and you cant wait to fly again? Everything was too easily introduced. Levi should have had to save her life and thats how he revealed his powers. There was no mystery at all. The writer just tells you everything without suspense. That being said the crow idea is original though im not sure how they are more superior than mountain lions and wolves but whatever.

Did I enjoy this book: I did enjoy this book. It took longer than I expected to read but I did read it every free chance I had.
This was an interesting story. We meet Allie while she is in New Orleans working at her father's hotel. The first day she arrives, she meets Levi. We can all guess what happens.
I liked Allie's character for the most part. She was strong and didn't really put up with lines and other crap from guys. She could hold her own. Allie's sarcasm, wit, and character really struck me. She was a good character. Did she act like a typical teen girl sometimes? Yes, but that was okay.
Levi was awfully sure of himself. He was very presumptuous and arrogant. Levi rubbed me the wrong way throughout this book. However, that was his character and it worked. He and his crew were a typical "frat boy"-type group but with a much more interesting background.
There was romance, action, and the inevitable cocky-guy screw up. Throw in the fact that Levi is a Pteron, and part of the supernatural society that Allie did not know existed, and you have a good read. I enjoyed it and I'm looking forward to reading the next book in The Crescent Chronicles series, Focus.
Would I recommend it: I would recommend this book. It was a good, paranormal YA read.
Will I read it again: I will not.

Fun, exhilerating, and unique, Flight is a great start to the paranormal series, The Crescent Chronicles.
I know that I say this a lot, but paranormal books are tricky for me. I often feel as if I'm reading the same story, over and over again. That is so not the case with Flight. I loved the New Orleans setting of the story. I've read a few stories that almost seemed to use the famous city as a gimmick, but not here. This is a city that the author is very familiar with and she uses it to her advantage. As Allie became familiar with the city, I was able to visualize Canal Street, Bourbon Street, Cafe du Monde, and many other notable areas of New Orleans. It felt nice to "revisit" the Crescent City.
As for the supernatural elements to Flight, I'm not going to reveal that here. I went into the story completely blind, and I loved discovering the hidden world right along with Alli. What Ivy came up with was so cool, so unique, and pretty darn wicked. Allie finds out what creatures are hidden are hidden with the city fairly quickly, and I loved that she didn't lead us along the whole book, dangling bits and pieces and building frustration. It was nice to know the basics of what was going on, and then to be able to get down to business.
Allie was a great heroine. She's so smart, but not arrogant. She handles the supernatural secrets like a champ, maybe a little too well, but I didn't really care. She's fairly pragmatic, not prone to hysterics and denials in the face of the obvious. Levi, the guy who introduces her to the magic, is hot, charming and a little infuriating. I love that he doesn't hide who he is from Alli, but oh boy, he is tricky! Through lies of omission, Levi brings Allie in way too deep, and it costs her a lot. I wanted to dislike him, but I just couldn't do it. *shrugs* Allie's reactions to Levi's deceit was spot-on. She is not going to let him off easy.
The story also includes a fantastic cast of secondary characters. Hailey, Owen, and Jared are all big players in the story, and I loved them each time they appeared, which was often. Jared was my favorite, most likely because he's a smarta$$.
Flight was a fun and interesting story all the way through. It was such a quick read, and I mananged to fly (pun totally intended) through in just a couple hours. I immediately began book two, Focus.

Written to entice you to buy the next. Good premis, some gaps in story. Enjoyed enough to buy the second one.

I absolutely loved this book! The setting was the perfect combination of welcoming and eerie, which I can only imagine New Orleans to be like. Allie reminded me of myself in a lot of ways with how she feels the need to plan everything in her life. An Levi? Oh my.. Levi, Levi, Levi. He even made my belly flip a couple times. He is quite naughty in this book, but I can't help but love him anyway. The premise of this book is very intriguing, and with the supernatural society, I haven't read anything quite like it. Alyssa Rose Ivy never ceases to entertain me in her books! I'm a big fan of hers and can't wait to read Focus, Book 2 in the Crescent Chronicles!!
The ARC of Flight by Alyssa Rose Ivy was provided to me by the author for review. The opinions are my own.

I received this book from the author for an honest review.
I just finished this book and am literally going NUTS wanting to read book 2...glad I got it as an ARC copy. I loved Levi and Allie. Levi is the hot guy all the girl want and Allie has sworn off guys. He does everything he can to sweet talk her and all she does is rebuff him. One of my favorite lines is in the beginning when Owen informs Allie most girls are eating out of Levi's hand. She said well not me. He proceeds to laugh and tells Levi Allie isn't interested. The banter the two of them have is hilarious. Levi KNOWS Allie is interested but because Allie knows Levi knows she antagonizes his "male ego" all the time.
Levi is an important member of the paranormal community and tells Allie about his paranormal side. She is enthralled with it and they begin dating. Allie continually calls it a fun summer fling but all the time wishing for more. Levi is terrified of losing Allie and takes the choice out of her hands as to whether she should go to Princeton. When she finds out what he has done it causes some danger for her with other shifters in the world.
The book is amazing!! I feel like I am rambling but I just cant get over how great the writing is. The pacing and flow were amazing. If you like Paranormal, this series will live up to the hype. If you like YA then you will enjoy as well. I am not a very big YA reader and was drawn to the Paranormal aspect. I just can't say enough about this series and I will definitely reread it.

Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. Report this reviewThank you, this review has been flagged.Just looking at the cover I thought, how cool is this book going to be. And, sometimes when I go into a book really excited about its premise I am let down, but that was not the case this time. Alyssa Rose Ivy has successfully created a new kind of paranormal romance, using elements we're used to and making it her own, that left me needing more of Levi and Allie.
Allie is in one word, fiery. She's not susceptible to Levi's charms (and boy does he seem charming), and the chase is what I love to see. Their romance is heated and intense, but doesn't happen suddenly and I couldn't get enough. Allie seems to be the perfect balance for Levi and him for her. In the words of several characters, they just work. I really enjoyed Allie's friend Jess as well; her character was the polar opposite of Allie and fun to follow. I hope we get more of her story, and secrets revealed, in upcoming installments.
Flight is rich in characters and isn't lacking in personality. Owen and Jared, both friend's with Levi, are two complex and mysterious characters that I'd love to read more about. But, my favorite character in Flight was definitely Hailey, Owen's sister. She is a tough cookie and I'm looking forward to her role in book 2, Focus.
In the background of Flight is the glowing and lively city of New Orleans, a place I have always wanted to visit. It's the perfect setting for this dark and mysterious story and Alyssa does a great job putting the reader on the streets with her detailed writing. Playing the city and recent tragedies into her book the author creates a well rounded plot that includes all angles.
By the end of the book Alyssa Rose Ivy had me pining for the next story, Focus, which is due out in January. This page turning drama isn't over yet, in fact it's just the beginning and I can't wait to read more. Flight is a book that will stick in my head for days!
If you're looking for a new paranormal romance series to keep you on your toes, frustrate and confuse your heart, make you want to side with both the head strong female and the hopeless male then pick up Flight. It was everything I was looking for in a read and more. I can't wait to see how this series plays out.

Once I started reading Flight, I had a hard time setting it down. Alyssa Rose Ivy did a great job creating something completely different, I don’t think I've read anything else like Flight before.
I enjoyed pretty much everything about this book, I think the only issue I had with it was Levi's character and that’s because he made me so mad! He was always acting like a jerk! Allie on the other hand, was cool. I like how she stood up to Levi, how she never took any of his crap. I think that's what made her a good match for Levi, because she was exactly the type of girl he needed.
My favorite aspect of this story was definitely the New Orleans setting. I've never been to New Orleans, but after reading this book I'm dying to go there and check this place out. It sounded like a really fun place to be!
Overall, I thought Flight was an enjoyable read! It had a great storyline and I can't wait to read book #2 to see how it continues!

Allie and her best friend Jess are spending their summer in New Orleans at her father's newly acquired hotel before they start their freshman year in college. Allie has everything planned out. She's attending Princeton in the fall, she has broken up with her boyfriend and sworn off guys, and she's ready for her summer adventure in New Orleans. The only thing she didn't plan on was Levi Laurent. Oh he's definitely hot, and he most definitely knows it. He's used to girls falling at his feet and Allie is determined that she isn't going to be one of them, which intrigues him all the more. Levi Laurent doesn't give up easily when he wants something, and he has decided he wants Allie. Whether she wants to admit it or not, she wants Levi to. When she admits to him that she is looking for an adventure, he decides to give her one, and it is definitely one that she will never forget. As Allie spends more time with Levi, and his friends Jasper, Owen and Hailey, she finds out that there is a lot more to them than meets the eye, something supernatural even. She finds herself more attracted to Levi and his world, and to the city itself, that is until Levi does something that she finds herself unable to forgive, and unable to undo. Thrust into the midst of a world that she didn't ask to be a part of, everything about Allie's life, her future, her plans, her family, her world, is about to change, whether Allie likes it or not.
I really enjoyed this book. It's a fresh and unique take on the paranormal, which is both entertaining and exciting. I enjoyed the pace of the book and the story and characters are really well written. Levi is really, really hot, and you couldn't help but be drawn to him. He's really romantic also. He messes up pretty bad, but he does love Allie. I liked Allie's character, and I really liked Hailey also. The romance is hot, and there are also some pretty intense and dangerous moments. This is the first book that I have read by Alyssa Rose Ivy and I found it to be not only creative, but also captivating. I read it in one sitting, dying to see what was happening next. I am on the edge of my seat anxiously awaiting the next book in the series, Focus, which is expected to release in January of 2013. If you love paranormal romance that includes some action, adventure, danger, and a unique supernatural twist, this is one book you will want to check out.

A summer in New Orleans is exactly what Allie needs before starting college. Accepting her dad’s invitation to work at his hotel offers an escape from her ex-boyfriend and the chance to spend the summer with her best friend. Meeting a guy is the last thing on her mind—until she sees Levi.
