Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Sue Poduska
Billed as the fourth tale from the Five Kingdoms, this is a story of good and evil in which evil is represented by an amorphous blob called the Old Malignancy. The story is silly enough to be enjoyed by children but feels like a mishmash of re-worked themes. The title is based on the idea that a group of dragons is a flight, much like a group of crows is a murder. The author kindly includes a list of principal characters, which is needed. The reader meets bats, crones, a troll, truehearts, queens, a king, princes, a princess, an evil blob, a crow, dragons, evil twins, and other people. The main story is about finding a dragon egg, which is about to hatch; although most of the characters do not know about the egg for most of the book. They spend a lot of time just being good or evil, or somewhere in between. Old Malignancy wants to rule the Five Kingdoms, while his twin great granddaughters just want to be bad. Princess Fedora, a newlywed, wants to rule the castle but is incredibly incompetent. The illustrations are delightful and add to the text. Reviewer: Sue Poduska

    Great Book!!:)

Marcus takes Gracie to see dragons on her birthday! This turns out to be a total riot! Gracie and friends discover a dragon's egg. A couple of evil things stand in the way, but they can take it on, right?
