Editorial Reviews

School Library Journal
Gr 2-3-Hank the Cowdog, head of ranch security, finds himself trapped inside a cattle trailer and later stranded in town in this episode in the Hank the Cowdog series by John R. Erickson. He then hooks up with the dogcatcher's dog and narrowly escapes capture while stealing some weenies. Numerous word plays and word tangles become part of his telling of his adventures. The rather lame story is not enhanced in recorded book format. Erickson is an animated reader who brings Hank to life. Sound effects and voice changes are used effectively. The main problem is the background music playing incessantly throughout the reading. Occasionally, it does add to the story, but most of the time it is just an annoying noise that impedes concentration. Fans of Hank will appreciate him more in the printed version. Youngsters who have never read the books will not be inclined to do so after listening to this audiobook.-Nancy A. Gifford, Schenectady County Public Library, NY Copyright 2001 Cahners Business Information.
